THE NINETEENTH SUNDAY OF PENTECOST

Hosanna’s newly elected Board of Directors are being installed this morning during the 10:30 service. They are: Rita Barnard, Art Engelmann, Dave Kauker,
Bill Engelmann, & Phil Oberhaus.
Please pray for them and for Hosanna as
we begin a new phase of our congregational life.
Next Sunday is the 10th day on the 10th month
of the year 2010. We are designating it as
10-10-10 Sunday and asking each member
to prayerfully consider giving 10 percent
(tithe) of your weekly income to the Lord that
day. God is honored when we make giving to
Him a priority. Through the giving of the first
portion of our incomes, we model the giving of
our Heavenly Father. Ask God for guidance
and strength as you prayerfully consider your thank offering on 10-10-10 Sunday.
MISSIONS: As promised, here is our Animal Project: The Samaritan’s Purse Catalogue lists Dairy Animals as a suggested project and tells us that goats, cows and other dairy animals supply impoverished families with nourishing milk, a steady income and the opportunity to hear the Gospel. Perfect! The catalogue suggests $70.00 as a gift towards supplying such animals. Certainly, Hosanna is capable of supplying at least three “suggested gift” amounts for a total of $210.00 and certainly the Lord would be pleased with even more. Matthew 25:35 tells us For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, . . . Be sure to indicate your gift on the front of your offering envelope.

PRESCHOOL This week we worked on the Letter C and the Number 3. The children learned about the first parents! This week we had a combined field trip to the Maddock’s farm and saw the plants and animals that grow there. The 4’s class also went to the fire station, while the 3’s had the fire station come to them. Both classes were able to get up close and personal with the fire truck and ambulance, and even squirt water through the fire hose.

Stewardship Corner
In Matthew 6:19, Jesus tells us not to store up treasures on earth because they are poor and wrong investments. Worldly treasures can be stolen, eaten by moths, or rust. From our own experience, we know that our possessions can also be lost through floods, fire, government seizures, bad investments, etc. None of our treasures, except those treasures that we store in heaven, can escape the coming fire of God. “By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men” (2 Peter 3:7).
