Dear St. Paul's Volunteers:Our next week to support ES Presbyterian Church will be December 6 to December 12. We will be needing people to make the evening meal, be an evening volunteer, and overnight host. If you can fit any of this into your schedule for TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7 and/or DECEMBER 8 the families would greatly appreciate it. If these 2 dates do not work, let me know what day during the week of the 6th to the 12th and you can work with the ES Pres. Church volunteers. Please let me know ASAP. (Adrian - Can you overnight one night?) Below is a list of events for Family Promise. Sorry such short notice for these events but time got away from me this month. Sorry. My goal for St. Paul's is to collect 30 new pillows by December 27. I would like to be able to give them these to start out the new year. If you could donate 1 or more I would be grateful. I hope to have a box in the narthex. Thank you and God bless Faye Jones

15 guests Dear Carol,Thank you for the "Thank You", and our Church and those dear guest owe YOU a bigger "THANK YOU" for all the hundreds of hours you personally devoted yourself, to setting up and managing this big and complex project. Managing volunteers - as you well know - is kinda like herding cats. Getting all of us prima donna's to (1.) cook to order, (2.) show up to sit up all night, (3.) be nice to sometimes not-nice people under stress, (4.) wash dirty laundry, (5.) clean rooms for strangers, and (6.-100.) etc. etc. was truly a miracle! Things went just as planned, thanks to your careful, prayerful management. Well done, Good and Faithful Servant! Thank you, Carol, for giving us Family Promise volunteers a real-life opportunity to walk in Jesus' footsteps. We are all the better for your drive and vision! Greetings to all our wonderful Family Promise volunteers!Thank you one and all for your hard work and generous spirits in helping with our latest week of hosting guests from the Family Promise program! With as many as 15 guests during the week it was quite a challenge! The food dishes were all eaten with great enjoyment and enthusiasm! The families were pleasant to work with, and the hosts and hostesses did a great job of keeping things organized and seeing that everyone had an enjoyable evening. The overnight teams always are very much appreciated for their willingness to stay at the church with less than a good night’s rest. In summary, it was another positive week of Christian outreach. Each volunteer brought his/her own individual talents. Thank you everyone! May God richly bless all of you! Carol Hook ESPC Mission Committee P.S. Mark your calendars for our next scheduled week—October 25-November 1. | |

Family Promise is an organization that provides shelter and opportunities to homeless families in Monroe County. We assist the Host Church in preparing evening meals, greet guests when they arrive for the evening, and volunteer to stay overnight at the host facility with the guests. The Congregation of St. Paul's is a supporting congregation with Family Promise. The host church that we support is East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, located on Smith St. in East Stroudsburg. Family Promise will provide a training program for volunteers, screen the families in accordance with its guidelines, provide transportation for the families to and from the Host Congregation each morning and evening, and work with families during the day at the Family Day Center to help them obtain permanent housing and other services. The Day Center is located next to the Wesleyan Church on Fifth Street in Stroudsburg. If you would like to help others in our community get back on their feet, please call or email me to volunteer. Please call me if you have any questions.Blessings to you, Faye Jones 570-223-8035 or mrspools@ptd.net |
