Our Altar Painting

The altar painting was an early work of the artist Herbjorn Gausta who was foremost among Norwegian-American altar painters and had a studio located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
There is photographic evidence of the painting in 1898 in a photograph taken of the funeral service of Mrs. Thomas Johnsen.

The painting was relocated into the 1911 church building; and, in 1922, placed into the present altar rerdos.
A higher resolution image can be found at "Minnesota Reflections" by searching for "Gausta."
