A Note From Pastor |
We attend Church regularly so that we may hear God's Word and receive His sacraments. These are the only means of God's grace. The means of Grace are the means through which the Holy Spirit offers us the blessings of Christ and works in our hearts that faith by which we accept Christ and His salvation. Through the Gospel the Holy Spirit calls and invites us to partake of Christ's blessings offered there. Also through the Gospel He gives us the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ our Savior so that we may trust and believe, rejoice and take comfort, in Him. He also sanctifies us through the Gospel, that is, by faith in Christ He renews our hearts so that we can overcome sin and do good works. Not only does Christ command and urgently invite us to hear His Word and receive the Lord's Supper frequently, but by them He strengthens us in our faith and He promises to bestow on us His blessings: forgiveness of sins, salvation and eternal life. thus in coming to church and hearing God's Word and receiving His sacraments we receive forgiveness of sins and are strengthened in our faith so as to resist the devil, the world and our sinful flesh, and that we may obtain faith for a holier life bearing testimony that Jesus Christ is our Savior. As God has called, gathered, enlightened, and sanctified us and all believers, bringing us to faith in Jesus Christ, so that we might have the blessings of redemption and a godly life, so He also invites us and draws us by the Gospel to partake of the spiritual blessings that are ours. He gives us the saving knowledge of Jesus, our Savior, so that we trust, rejoice, and find comfort in Him. In this He works a renewal of our whole lives–in spirit, will, attitude, and desires–so that we now strive to overcome sin and do the His will. And God’s will requires that we worship together, that we hear His Word read and preached to us, that we learn it, read it, hear it, and meditate on it, and that we honor and support the preaching, teaching, sharing, and spreading of His Word in our congregation, our community, and throughout the world. In this way God continues to bless us. Therefore, let us remeber the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy; that is, hold preaching and the Word of God sacred and gladly hear and learn it. And the best way to do that is: COME TO CHURCH! | |
