Confirmation Classes - Youth and Adult |
Confirmation classes (where young people explore the faith that has been handed down to them and learn about God’s grace and promises given to them in Jesus Christ when they were baptized) for eighth and ninth grade students typically meets on Wednesdays during the school year. Contact Jill Torgerson for more information.Adult confirmation (similar to confirmation for youth but for adults who have not been baptized or who have not been confirmed in the Lutheran tradition) is held periodically by request. For adults who have not been baptized, baptism will take place after completion of adult confirmation, preferably during a worship service of the congregation. Annual Events |
Samhold Lutheran Church typically holds an annual auction in their basement in the autumn of the year, with the proceeds going toward a designated project for the congregation. A potluck dinner is usually held beforehand.Samhold Lutheran Church began a tradition in 2008 of having an annual fundraising dinner in the spring. Although the proceeds go toward a designated congregational project, the benefits in the form of fellowship and friendship are untold. United Lutheran Church hosts an annual salad luncheon put on by the women of the congregation in the summer of the year. Women from all over the area gather for lunch and a program provided by an entertaining speaker. United Lutheran Church hosts an annual potato klub dinner, usually in February. For those unfamiliar with traditional Norwegian recipes, potato klub is a mixture of ground potatoes and flour rolled into large balls and boiled, often with ham or bacon in the center of each ball. Men of United Lutheran Church host an annual pancake dinner in the autumn of the year. | |

Both congregations maintain active Sunday Schools, which meet during the school year. Samhold Lutheran Sunday School meets at 9:30 AM (before worship), and United Lutheran Sunday School meets at 10:30 (after worship).Youth of the parish meet at various times throughout the year for a variety of activities, which include, though are not limited to, bowling, skiing, movies and faith-based discussion, cleaning road ditches, and other events.

Samhold Lutheran Women usually meet every other month to discuss business, have an educational program, and host a dinner (open to the public). The women also quilt during the winter months, often donating their quilts to the organization of Lutheran World Relief.United Lutheran WELCA typically meets every month throughout the year to discuss business and have a Bible study, hosting a lunch afterwards. The United women also quilt during the winter. Last year, Samhold and United women worked together to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Visitation Committee |

The parish visitation committee meets every other month with Rev. Jacobson. The purpose of this committee is to involve lay people in the ministry of visiting the shut in members of the parish. If you are interested in participating, contact Rev. Jacobson for more information.
