The "retired" Pastor Dan Mangler
Pastor Dan Mangler officially retired from his position December 24, 2009,
as Pastor at the Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church.
Pastor Dan served the church for nine years; seeing through the funding,
construction and accupancy of the church building just off of Dry Gulch Road.
During the time it will take for a search committee to organize, and begin the process of
identifying candidates suitable for Pastorial Duties at SMLC; the Congregation is privleged
to have the services of Pastor Keith Prekker.

Dear Friends at SMLC,
On February 17 we begin our annual Lenten journey. For 40 days we walk with Jesus toward Jerusalem and his crucifixion and resurrection. These days are marked by increased awareness of our own involvement in this eternal drama and hopefully an increased appreciation of and gratitude for this unprecedented act of cosmic love and grace.
Here at Shepherd of the Mountains we will mark Ash Wednesday with a worship service and the imposition of ashes. Each of the next five Wednesdays will be marked with a soup supper and a brief worship time using the Holden Evening Prayer service.
Our Holy Week observance will include Maundy Thursday worship on April 1 and a Good Friday service April 2. The Easter worship will be a joyous celebration of Christ’s victory over death and the grave. Sometimes, when we have experienced this Lenten season a number of times previously, we can lose sight of the power and beauty of the observance. It is my hope that we can preserve, and even enhance, our understanding of and awe over the enormity of God’s sacrificial gift to us this year.
Please plan now to set aside these worship times and to be a part of our congregational journey to the cross and beyond.
