Pastor Bill Ordelt was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April Fools Day of 1950,
the 2nd of 3 sons to William Sr. & Dorotha (Warren) Ordelt. He graduated from
Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA with a B.A. degree in Theology / Philosophy
in 1972. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran
Seminary in Columbus, OH in 1976. He was ordained into the ministry of Word and
Sacrament on July 4, 1976, touching off mammoth parades throughout the nation!
(Of course, it just so happened to be our country’s bicentennial celebration,
too!)
Pastor Bill served Grace Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake TX from 1976
through 1980; and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Latrobe, PA from 1980
through 2001; prior to accepting the call to serve as pastor of Good Shepherd in
Goldsboro in November of 2001.
Pr. Bill married Rita Lauffer on August 18, 1973. They celebrated the
birth of 3 children: Erin (born March 21, 1976) who married Roger Irvin on May
28, 2000; Brianne (born February 6, 1979); and Jonathan (born February 9, 1983).
They currently have four “grand-cats” that demand their attention.
After serving the same congregation (Prince of Peace in Latrobe) for 22
years, Pr. Bill thought that he would never leave the Latrobe community.
However, the Good Lord and the Good Shepherd congregation had other plans for
him. As the call process continued in 2001, Pr. Bill felt that God’s Spirit was
truly calling him to ministry in the Goldsboro community. The Good Shepherd
family is truly that, a family of faith, gathered together to live and love in
God’s world. You are invited to experience this family firsthand – by joining us
for worship or fellowship events that are described in this website. Share in
the joys and wonders of this fellowship of faith. You are most welcome at Good
Shepherd!
