CONGREGATIONAL COORDINATORS

Through the 2004 Care in Congregations program, Thrivent Financial set aside funds for the four churches in the Arlington County Chapter: $1,300 for Advent and $1,600 for Faith, Our Savior, and Resurrection.  These funds are for Thrivent Financial members to conduct activities to benefit their church and/or the church's ministry to the community. Three congregational coordinators are required to help administer the program and initiate funding requests for the activities. If you are interested in serving as a congregational coordinator in your church, contact Carl Hoffman, Congregational Service Team Director at choff@erols.com or President Anne Kauzlarich at akauzlarich@cox.net.

THANKS FOR THE HAPPY HATS

As noted in the Summer Arlington BEAT newsletter, the Arlington County Chapter celebrated Join Hands Day on two separate occasions in June by making 100 "Happy Hats" for children suffering from serious illnesses.  The hats were given to two hospitals in the region; Children's National Medical Center and INOVA Fairfax Hospital for Children.  The Chapter received thank you notes from both hospitals and would like to share one with you.  "On behalf of the Child Life Department here at INOVA Fairfax Hospital for Children, I would like to thank you for your recent donation of Happy Hats for our pediatric patients.  We always love to receive a Happy Hat donation for our patients.  They always enjoy the opportunity to choose their favorite color or print.  The families appreciate the opportunity to also receive a hat.  Your donation was combined with another group's (hats) so that we had just enough for patients, their families, and medical staff.  Thank you . . . for the children here at INOVA Fairfax Hospital for Children.  Sincerely, Carrie G. Bullard, MS, CCLS, Child Life Director, INOVA Fairfax Hospital for Children."
