Sundays, November 2, 2008 and November 9, 2008, after the worship services. Please vote at your local Lutheran Congregation. All elected chapter leadership positions are considered “open positions” each year, even though there may be some members who have not completed their four consecutive terms. Those running for election to the Chapter Board include: Richard Kauzlarich (Our Savior) - President Christopher Johnston (Our Savior) - Vice President Georges Toth (Advent) - Records Director Thomas G. Buchholz (Our Savior) - Financial Director Thomas Van Poole (Resurrection) - Congregational Service Team Director James Scott (Our Savior) - Communications Director Teresa Powell (Our Savior) - Youth Director
Board Member Biographies: RICH KAUZLARICH has been a member at Our Savior Lutheran Church for 39 years. Rich has served on various boards and twice as President of the congregation. He is currently President of the Arlington Chapter leadership board. Previously, he served on AAL boards. He is a retired Foreign Service Officer. He has been a member of Thrivent (previously AAL) for over 50 years.
CHRIS JOHNSTON has been a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Arlington, VA for over six years. He is currently Vice President of the Arlington Chapter leadership board. He taught middle school for 8 years (including 4 years at a Lutheran School in Chicago), and he comes from a family of educators and Lutheran pastors. Christopher serves on the Board of Christian Outreach at Our Savior. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in mathematics education at George Mason University.

GEORGES TOTH has served as Outreach Minister, Property Minister, Mutual Ministry Chair, Altar Committee member and communion assistant at Advent. He has been a union steward, voter registration organizer, and campaign worker for living wage campaign in Alexandria. A lifetime librarian, he retired from the Library of Congress after 24 years of service. He has been a member of Thrivent (previously Lutheran Brotherhood) for over 30 years. TOM BUCHHOLZ has served on the Boards of Trustees and Finance at Our Savior. He is a retired Navy Officer who is currently working as Contract Administrator for the Washington Area Transit Authority. He has been a member of Thrivent (previously AAL) for over 40 years.
TOM VAN POOLE has been Congregational President and served on Mutual Ministry, Worship, Renovation, and Parking Committees as well as having been active in the choir and Luther League at Resurrection. He also served on Synod Committees and the Boy Scouts. Formerly in the Army Reserves, he currently is an Engineer for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
JAMES SCOTT has chaired the Boards of Stewardship and Finance at Our Savior. Professionally, Jim is a member of the Virginia and District of Columbia Bars, specializing in construction and government contracts law. Currently, Jim is completing an advanced law degree at George Washington University.
TERESA POWELL has been a member of Our Savior for 8 years and has served as a youth leader at the church for the last 6 years. She is most interested in connecting our youth to the church in a real and meaningful way.
