Adams County WI Chapter, Spring 2007 Newsletter
Volunteer Week
April 15 begins the week of Volunteer Week.  We have ordered flowers for our 7 churches to be delivered the 13th and 14th for their Sunday service.

Volunteers are very important. Without volunteers, few organizations would function.  Some estimates of every volunteer hour are as high as $17.00 per hour.

Thanks to all of you who have given your time and made a difference for Adams County.

12,000 COULD BE LOST TO ADAMS COUNTY
In order to maintain the Adams County Chapter of Thrivent, we need to have all elected positions filled.  Next year the Financial Director term will be finished.   As of yet, we have not found a replacement for our Financial Director.  It is imperative that we find an Assistant Financial Director as soon as possible to work with our current Director to enable them to take over the books in January.

Here is a short explanation of duties:

Maintaining the "operating budget" checkbook, which are the funds used for operation of the chapter board.  This year, the checkbook is being tracked on-line, through the Thrivent website section, "Operating Checkbook", where all expenses are entered, and a checkbook balance is maintained.   All new Care Abounds in Communities projects are entered on-line when the projects have been approved.  Deposits of funds are made at the bank when projects are completed, and data for the project is entered on-line so funds can be dispersed.

Working along with the Community Service Team Director, the Financial Director helps insure that all applications are filled out correctly when presented to the chapter board for funding so that applications will not be rejected for lack of information.

Attending monthly board meetings, monthly reports are presented for both the operating and the "Care Abounds in Community" funds.  This enables the chapter board to know exactly where our funding is at for the year-to-date.

Basic computer internet skills and record keeping are a required.

If you are a Thrivent member and can fill this position, or know of someone who may be interested, please contact the chapter board president,  Ann Larsen at 564-3396, or the current financial director, Nancy VanAlstine at 564-7543.

Join Hands Day
For 2007 Thrivent Join Hands Day, Adams County is planting trees in the areas of the Town of Big Flats deforested by recent fires. Please join us; all are welcome.

Thrivent will provide a free lunch at noon.

We will meet at 9:00 at Zion Lutheran Church on   Saturday, April 28th.
