NEBRASKA FRATERNAL ORDER OF THRIVENT RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD
Nebraska Region of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is ranked #1 fraternally out of 35 regions nationwide.  That status comes from organizing fund raisers and service projects, raising money to assist others, publicizing those events, putting in many volunteer hours and reporting all of the information in a timely manner.  The Nebraska Region was #1 in 2007 also.





CARE ABOUNDS IN COMMUNITIES FUNDS
Thirty-seven projects were completed.  Thrivent provided $23,260 for these projects, and our community raised $85,039 for a total of $108,299 distributed in our area.


Projects included:


Six medical needs for area families  
Trinity Columbus Quilters for 540 quilts made for LWR, Simon House, Columbus Hospital and others
Leigh Recreation Club for maintaining Leigh Ball Field


Immanuel Lutheran Columbus for Camp Luther
Peace Lutheran LLL Columbus for Camp Luther
St. John's Creston Oktoberfest for their Parochial School


St. John's Creston Youth for VBS supplies for Indian Reservation at White Earth and Natawash, MN
St. John's Creston WMA for preceding reservation
Creston Women's Club for Creston swimming Pool improvements


Leigh/Creston Giving Tree for helping needy families and for newcomer packages
St. Peter's Creston quilts for Lutheran World Relief and Orphan Grain Train
Hope Lutheran Columbus for new sound system


Howell's swimming pool improvements
Clarkson Opera House handicap door and ramp
St. John's Columbus ELCA supplies for 245 quilts made for many recipients


St. John's Creston fish boil for Orphan Grain Train
Christ Lutheran PTL Columbus for their Parochial School
Trinity Schuyler Ladies Quilting for LWR and Orphan Grain Train quilts


Creston Fire Department for new fire barn
Youth for Christ for programs to help youth
National Day of Prayer to participate in prayer and praise activities and to honor the military


Columbus Senior Center to support nutrition programs, health and education activities
TLC Education Corporation to upgrade radio equipment and wiring at KTLX radio station
St. John's Lutheran Church Women of Leigh for 39 quilts made for several recipients


CARE ABOUNDS IN COMMUNITIES FUNDS (continued):


Hope Lutheran Garage Sale for church repairs and scholarships
Hope Lutheran Quilters for 131 quilts made for LWR, Center for Survivors, Simon House and others
Immanuel Lutheran Columbus Evening Guild for Center for Survivors and Misson trip for youth


Immanuel Lutheran School Extravaganza for their Parochial School
Center for Survivors for emergency shelter and to help with travel and outreach programs
St. Edward Senior Center to help with various programs






CARE IN CONGREGATIONS FUNDS
The 18 Lutheran congregations in Platte and Colfax Counties were the recipients of these funds.  Thrivent provided $23,445, and the 18 congregations raised $49,185 for a total of $72,630 being distributed in our area.







CARE IN REGIONS FUNDS
Four area projects raised $4,138, and Thrivent supplemented those funds with $1,900 for a total of $6,038 for the Care in Regions.  The funds are used for Seminary students.







JOIN HANDS DAY FUNDS
These are projects that involve both the youth and adults working together.  $1000 was given in 2008 for the following projects:  Clarkson Park Spruce Up; Zion Lutheran Leigh School and Grounds improvements; Christ Lutheran Columbus School and Grounds improvements.







EDUCATIONAL FUNDS

MEMBER GIFT PROGRAMS
Member Gift Programs are gifts given by Thrivent Financial members to Lutheran colleges, Lutheran high schools, Lutheran elementary schools, Lutheran pre-schools, Lutheran Outdoor Ministries, Orphan Grain Train and other Lutheran organizations that are enrolled in the GivingPlus Program.  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans supplements your gift of money and your volunteer hours to these organizations.  Report the information on a GivingPlus Member Form.  Each year Thrivent Financial provides numerous dollars to this program.
