YOUR 2008 LEADERSHIP BOARD

     If you are interested in volunteering a few hours a month to your Chapter to help those in need in our community of Warren Co. please contact one of the Leadership Board members or Kathy or Will Lapp at the addresses provided below.


2007 ANNUAL MEETING
     The Chapter’s annual meeting was held November 13 at the Houston Inn.  In addition to the Leadership Board that was elected (see above), congregational coordinators, and exiting Leadership Board members were recognized for their service during the year.  In addition representatives from some of the folks helped were also in attendance, including the Lebanon Food Pantry, Franklin Food Pantry and the Deardoff Senior Center.

CHAPTER QUARTERLY MEETING
     Your Chapter’s Leadership Board meets electronically and in person.  Its first 2008 in-person meeting on Saturday March 1, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 500 E. Second St., Franklin, OH 45005 beginning at 10:00 AM.  Coffee snacks will be provided.  Any Warren County Thrivent Financial member is invited to attend.


     Should you wish to attend please contact either Kathy or Will Lapp by February 29, 2008 at   WandKLapp@aol.com or 937-746-8171.  Please include the names of all wishing to attend, phone number and address so we can contact you for confirmation of your attendance or notice of snow cancellation.  If you will attend and have a Thrivent Financial for Lutherans shirt, please wear it to the meeting.


YOUR CHAPTER - WHAT WE DO
     Chapters of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are organized geographically and bring together members to help others and help their community. Through the Care Abounds in Communities® program, Thrivent Financial provides funding to members like you who form community service teams to conduct fund-raising activities and/or hands-on service activities to help individuals, families and qualified not-for-profit organizations. Contact a member of our chapter leadership board as noted in this newsletter for assistance in getting started.


Each year Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provides the Warren Co. OH Chapter approximately $13,000, for 2008, to help those Warren County OH individuals in need, examples include: Habitat for Humanity, Lebanon and Franklin Food Pantries, Lutheran Out Door Ministry programs, church sponsored child care facilities and pre-schools, Senior Citizens clothing for indigent children, American Cancer Society, Interfaith Hospitality Network and help to individuals needing assistance with medical bills or home modifications for the disabled.  A full listing of those helped can be found at the Chapter web site:  www.lutheransonline.com/warrencountyohchapter

SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDS
Should your group have a fund raiser for an individual or organization in Warren County that provides assistance to “those in need” your invited to submit an application for supplemental funds.  Please visit our Chapters web site noted in the above paragraph to view more detail of the requirements and download a “Request for Funding Form”.  The form is a word document and can be completed and e-mailed back to the Leadership Board member indicated on the form. Requests for supplemental funds must be submitted 2 weeks prior to your event to allow sufficient time for the Leadership to review and act upon the request.
