2008 ANNUAL MEETING SCHEDULED

Please mark your calendar to attend the Chapter’s annual meeting on Tuesday November 11, 2008, beginning about 6:00 PM. The location will be announced later. At this meeting the Chapter provides a free dinner to those who attend, elects the Leadership Board for the coming year, recognizes congregational coordinators, service team members and representatives from some of the recipients who are in attendance.

UP COMING CARE-ABOUNDS-IN-COMMUNITIES PROJECTS

1 - July 4, the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Warren County (IHNWC) will be holding its 2nd annual Red/White/Blue or Run/Walk/Benefit at Countryside YMCA, Lebanon, OH. The 5K run/walk will begin at 8:30 am, with a Kid’s Run for the Fun to follow at 9:30 am. (Please call IHNWC for more information 513-934-5250).

2 – The Franklin Deardorff Senior Center, “Ding-A-Lings” will be putting on its annual musical comedy to raise money to help area Seniors, on a Saturday, generally the last of October or the first one in November at 7:00 P.M. Franklin High School, McDade Auditorium Ticket cost is $5.00 per person. More information may be obtained by calling 937-743-8100/

SEEKING NOMINEES TO SERVE ON THE 2009 WARREN COUNTY LEADERSHIP BOARD

There are 10 board member slots, 5 of which are required to be filled for your chapter to be functional and 5 which are optional. Each board member is elected annually.

Should you be interested in volunteering a few hours each month as a member of the leadership board, have any questions or would like more detail on any of the positions please contact Will Lapp at 937-746-8171 or WandKLapp@aol.com. To serve on the Leadership Board you must have access to e-mail and several positions require internet access.

JOIN HANDS DAY EVENTS

In 2008 your chapter sponsored two join Hands Day events providing a total of $1,000.00 to those adults and youth that participated in a joint project.

YOUR CHAPTER - WHAT WE DO

Chapters of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are organized geographically and bring together members to help others and help their community. Through the Care Abounds in Communities® program, Thrivent Financial provides funding to members like you who form community service teams to conduct fund-raising activities and/or hands-on service activities to help individuals, families and qualified not-for-profit organizations. Contact a member of our chapter leadership board as noted in this newsletter for assistance in getting started.

Each year Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provides the Warren Co. OH Chapter approximately $14,400, including Joins Hands Day events, to help those Warren County OH individuals in need, examples include: Habitat for Humanity, Lebanon and Franklin Food Pantries, Lutheran Out Door Ministry programs, church sponsored child care facilities and pre-schools, Senior Citizens, clothing for indigent children, American Cancer Society, Interfaith Hospitality Network and help to individuals needing assistance with medical bills or home modifications for the disabled.
