| Kentucky River Chapter, Newsletter |
The Kentucky River Chapter has been very busy lately. Both Chapter Lutheran churches, Grace and St. Thomas, joined for the annual day at the Lexington Legends baseball game. The food and fireworks were very good. The day was very warm but everyone had fun. Both churches also joined to help with the Special Olympics. The group helps with the standing long jump. This is one of the most fun "work" activities we do!! We catch up with the athletes and each other. Plan to join us on the first Saturday in June!!! You not forget the experience.
| Kentucky River Chapter Picnic |
Members of the Kentucky RIver Chapter of Thrivent met on September 12th for their annual picnic. This year we held it at College Park in Winchester. The food was good and the company was even better. Instead of an educational program, the group packed 25 health kits for the Orphan Train group. These health kits included things like a towel and washcloth, toothpaste and toothbrush, a comb, soap, and bandaids. The kits will now be shipped to an area of the world where they are needed. Thanks to everyone for their hard work.
St. Thomas will hold their annual Oktoberfest and Christmas Craft Auction on October 23rd at 5:30PM in the multipurpose room at the church. There will be a small fee for the dinner which will include bratwurst, potato salad, and dessert. It is all you can eat!!! Any craft may be donated. Some people donate dinners that they will make for you at a later date. Other people will donate home baked goods or services. Use your imagination if you would ike to participate with a donation!! Even if you do not want to donate anything, join us for all of the fun!! The money raised will be donated to a charitable organization in the area. Watch for a postcard with more specifics.
