Northeast Seattle Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has entered the second half of 2005. We are excited about the projects that have taken place in the first half of this year. These projects have impacted our community and made it a more caring and sharing place. Your chapter leaders would like to thank all those who volunteered for those projects. We encourage you to keep up the good work and be active in other Care Abounds in Communities™ and/or Care in Congregations® projects. The Join Hands Day projects were very successful this year also. Join Hands Day has a time window of April 1st through June 30th and if you were not able to participate this year, please watch for this special event in the spring of 2006.
There are several congregations that have completed Care in Congregations projects and we encourage each church to think about ways to use this money. Care in Congregations projects can be for your own church or for the good of the community. This money could be used for Lutheran World Relief School Kits, Sunday school materials, janitorial supplies, or new coffee cups for the church kitchen. To access this money, 6 Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members from different households can make an application to a congrgational coordinator and they will start you on your way. If you need help, additional information, directions, or more ideas, please contact a chapter leader, or call Dave Munger at 206 363 8871.
Some congregational coordinators have put a notice in the church bulletin that there will be a meeting for all members of the congregation that have ideas to use Care in Congregation Funds. That meeting is used to divide up the funds so all interested groups get a share of the church's annual allocation. please remember, this money does not carry over into the next year and must be used before the middle of December.
Northeast Seattle Chapter is also looking for new chapter leaders as some are nearing the expiration of their terms. This is important and rewarding work in the community. New people always bring exciting ideas to the chapter board. If you have never been involved in this type of leadership role and would like to try, please contact a current chapter leader. There is room for all levels of expertise and training is available for beginners. Those who have served as a congregational coordinator are good candidates for this next level of service in our community.
Remember, together we can and do make a difference.
Thank you for your past support and future endeavors.
David Munger
