Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Chapter 30185, is off to a good start for 2007. We have money available for Care Abounds in Communities® projects and the requests for funds have already started coming in. You are the eyes and ears for our community and if you know of needs in our area that meet the criteria for funding, please contact a chapter leader. There are new guidelines recommended for all chapters this year. Eighty percent of all requests for Care Abounds in Communities funds should be in by November 1, and 90% of those completed by November 30. The board encourages requesters to plan ahead and avoid last minute deadlines.
Quilting is on our agenda and we will be providing batting again this year. Thanks for the feedback last year. We have a new vendor and better quality batting for 2007. We hope to have this available in late March. Watch for updated news.
Habitat is also on our radar screen. Thrivent Builds is working with Habitat and making a big difference with volunteers and dollars to help meet the need for affordable housing in our area. There is a Habitat Build in Tukwila this year and there is a need for congregations to organize volunteers to help with this project.
