| North Seattle Chapter, Chapter 30185 News |
Northeast Seattle Chapter has been busy this spring. A congregational coordinator training meeting was held at Luther Memorial Church, a Join Hands Day project was completed by a group from Maple Leaf Lutheran Church, quilt batting distribution was started, as well as several Care in Abounds In Communities activities. We are happy to report that Thrivent Chapter dollars are making a difference in our community and in the world. Three shipping containers were loaded on May 4th and 5th with Quilts, Health Kits and School Kits for Lutheran World Relief. It is wonderful to witness the benefits of Chapter activities, volunteer hours and Congregational activities in a way that impacts so many people, both locally and globally. Keep up the good work.
The Northeast Chapter encourages each church to use their Care in Congregations funds for 2007. If you need ideas, please contact a chapter leader. Congregational funds can be used for your own church or the community. Volunteers from six Thrivent households and an application from your church Thrivent coordinator is all it takes to access money for an activity.
Thrivent Builds and Habitat for Humanity have a project in Tukwila and Thrivent volunteers are encouraged to help. You may either participate by volunteering to work on the project or make a donation through your congregation. For more information, contact Anne Anderson at (253) 661-3936, or anneanderson@thrivent.com.
Northeast Seattle Chapter will be participating in the Strike Out Hunger project this year and, if you would like to help, and have some fun at the same time, check this out. Our Chapter has a limited number of baseball tickets for the game on Saturday, June 23, at 7:05 PM. The Seattle Mariners will be playing the Cincinnati Reds on that evening. Former Mariner, Ken Griffey, Jr., is on the Reds team and is #9 on baseball's all-time home run list. Here's an opportunity to help fight hunger and see our boys play Cincinnati. Make checks payable to NE SEATTLE CHAPTER 30185, and write "Strike Out Hunger" on the memo line of your check. Send your request for the number of tickets (up to 4) with your donation to:
David Munger 19200 - 11th Ave. N. E. Shoreline, WA 98155
Your total donation will go directly to "Strike Out Hunger" and you will receive up to 4 tickets for the game on June 23rd. A first-come, first-served distribution will be used. Together, we do make a difference.
