North Seattle Chapter, Welcome to 2008
Happy New Year from your local Chapter
The Northeast Seattle Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans wishes you a Happy New Year. There are some additions to your local chapter board for this year. The elections held in November 2007 resulted in the following people being elected:
President: Larry Monger Vice President: Karen Munger Records Director: Elizabeth Russell Treasurer: Juanita Serrato Youth Director: Judy Goulet Communications Director: Bev Klein Congregational Service Team Director: Chuck Gehrts Events Director: David Munger
This year's officers represent a combination of experienced and newly-elected members. We are all willing to help you with your congregational projects and encourage you to participate in community projects.
For questions or further information, please call Dave Munger at (206) 363-8871
Each church has $1300 or $1600 for congregational projects. Several churches have had good success with dividing up the money available for congregational projects by inviting all interested people to a special meeting just for the purpose of allocating the funds. Holding the meeting early in the year gives an opportunity to use all the funds for the year. This money is not carried over to the following year. It is available by contacting your Congregational Coordinator. Care in Congregations funds can be used for projects in the church or for projects in the community. Your congregational coordinator decides. Suggestions include: Health and school kits; Local food banks; Choir music; cleaning supplies; Sunday school supplies or whatever your imagination creates.
Care Abounds in Communities
Money is also available for community projects. These projects are accessed through your Chapter officers. Community project money cannot be used for church-use, but must be used to make the community a better place. Examples of community fund projects might be: Compass Center; Columbia Lutheran Home; Foss Home; North Helpline; Lutheran World Relief; Habitat for Humanity; or quilting projects. Contact a Chapter officer for more information about using these funds. Our goal is to make our community a better place and we know that by working together we can make a difference. We cannot do all the good the world needs, but the world needs all the good we can do.
Thank you for your past support and your future energy.
