North Seattle Chapter, 30185 News
Your local Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has been busy with several projects and many of them are completed. Chapter Officers would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers for providing time and resources to make each project a successful event. Many of the projects were fundraising events to provide needed services to our community. Quilting, school kits, and health kits for Lutheran World Relief are hands-on projects and require many hours of volunteer time. Three 48-foot trailers were loaded the first weekend in May at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church with quilts, school kits, and health kits from many chapters throughout Washington. It's difficult to imagine how many hours must have gone into three loaded trailers.
Care in Congregations Funds
We are half way through the 2008 year and it is time to check on your congregational funds. Each congregation has $1300 or $1600 for this year. Monies not used by the end of the year will not be carried over to 2009. Ask your congregational coordinator if there is money available for a project this year. It's a good time to stock up on materials for school kits and health kits, or use it to enhance your own church office supply room. Six Thrivent households and an idea are all it takes to access this money.
Election of Officers Coming Soon
Your local chapter is looking to add new officers each year and it's not too early to be thinking about volunteering for this important work in our community. Elections are held each November for one-year terms. Being a member of the board is a great way to reach out into the community and make a connection with other congregations and Lutheran organizations providing important services in our area.
Mariner Tickets Available
The Northeast Seattle Chapter has tickets available for a Mariners Baseball game on Thursday, August 21, at 7 p.m. (Oakland). This should be a fun evening for individuals and families. Our Chapter has been involved with Habitat for Humanity through Thrivent Builds and would like to support this important work with your donations for Baseball tickets. If you are able to attend and would like to attend this game, mail your donation, payable to NE Seattle Chapter 30185, to: David Munger 19200 - 11th Ave. N. E. Shoreline, WA 98155
All proceeds will be given to Thrivent Builds Habitat. For more information, call Dave at (206) 363-8871. Tickets are limited and will be sent out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Together, we do make a difference. Thank You!
