Busy hands
Your local chapter officers have been busy so far in 2009.  The quilt batting is now out and quilters are sewing lots of warmth and comfort for people all around the world.  We cannot thank you enough for all the volunteer hours that go into providing quilts for Lutheran World Relief and those in our local area who are in need of warmth during our cold weather.

Care in Congregations Funds
The funds for Care in Congregations projects have been set aside for each congregation that has the three required coordinators in the amount of $1020 and/or $1250, depending on the size of your congregation.  We encourage each church to use all of their allotted dollars as this money does not carry over to next year.  All it takes is a need that arises in your church or community and six Thrivent households to access this money.  A few churches hold a meeting with their Care in Congregations committee members to allocate the funds for the year, thereby ensuring all the money will be used.  Contact your coodinator for application forms.  For additional information or ideas using Care in Congregations funds, call Dave Munger at (206) 363-8871 or any chapter officer.

Join Hands Day
Join Hands Day Funds are available again this year.  Our chapter has $500 to be used  by youth and adults working together to make the community a better place.  These funds must be used between March 1 and June 30.  Money not used by June 30 has the same consequences as Cinderella's coach at midnight.  These funds are accessed through your local chapter and needs six Thrivent households for each project.

Care Abounds in Communities Funds
The state of the economy has led to a reduction of Care Abounds in Communities funds for 2009.  Your chapter officers are working extra hard to make the money go as far as possible.  We are experiencing many more requests for funds and may not be able to meet all the needs within our community.  This situation makes it all the more important for us to volunteer as much as we can.  We are aware that we cannot do all the good the world needs, but the world needs all the good we can do.  Together we do make a difference.  Thank you for your past support and your future efforts.
