Volunteers contribute to community
Your local chapter volunteers have had a successful spring.  Several projects have been completed and a few are still in progress.  Quilts for Lutheran World Relief were loaded into three rail trailers the first weekend in May.  Thanks go out to the many quilters in our Chapter and throughout the Northwest Region.  Other projects included:  feeding the hungry, caring for the elderly at Columbia Lutheran Home and Foss Home, and nurturing the young at a pre-school.

Join Hands Day
Funding for Join Hands Day was reduced for 2009, but we were able to successfully support five Join Hands Day Projects this spring.  Using creative financing and asking volunteers to do more with less during these difficult economic times, stretched our dollars.  Volunteers for Hopelink, Valley Camp, Lutherwood, Concordia Lutheran School, and Maple Leaf Lutheran Church were involved in Join Hands Day for 2009.  Thanks to all for making a difference in our community!

Term Limits
Term limits for NE Seattle Chapter officers means we will need new volunteers for 2010.  This is an exciting way to become involved with helping our community and keeping the money flowing to many needs in our area.  Elections will be held in November.  Without Chapter officers, the Thrivent dollars disappear for our area.  If you would like information about Chapter officers, call Dave Munger at (206) 363-8871.

Mariner's Baseball tickets available
Chapter 30185 has tickets available for a Mariner's baseball game on August 11th.  This year we are supporting Hope Place with our volunteer dollars.  Hope Place provides assistance for women and children who need a temporary living arrangement.  Spaces are available for up to one year.  Counseling is provided for domestic violence, substance abuse, education and skill advancement, daily living and wellness habits.

If you would like to see a baseball game and help Hope Place, send a check made payable to NE Seattle Chapter 30185, by August 4, to Dave Munger, 19200 11th Ave. NE, Shoreline, WA  98155.  One Hundred percent of your donation will go to Hope Place.  You may request up to 5 tickets to see the Chicago White Sox play the Seattle Mariners on August 11 at 7:10 p.m.  This is an excellent way to have some fun and help someone at the same time.  To get more information, call Dave at (206) 363-8871.  Together we do make a difference.
