| Volunteer of the Year - 2007 |
Congratulations to Holly Whittle, Financial Consultant in the Whatcom County of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Holly was named the "Volunteer of the Year" for the Western Washington/Western Oregon/Alaska Region for 2007. She was awarded this honor in recognition of her volunteer efforts in the community. Holly serves on the Board of Habitat for Humanity of Whatcom County and was an advocate for the Thrivent Builds project in 2007. She has also volunteered with the Consumer Protection Agency, the Bellingham School District, and Christ the Servant Lutheran Church where she is a member.
With the award there is a $500.00 grant which Holly selected Habitat for Humanity of Whatcom County to receive.
Thanks, Holly, for your volunteer spirit and for being such an excellent role model for us all!

| Sierra Northwest Regional Grants |
Two Thrivent regional grants were given this spring through our Chapter. Our thanks go to board members, Lisa Lockwood and Al Peraino, as they were the ones who completed the application process. Their efforts have brought much needed funds to our region. A $7,000 grant was awarded for Lewis County disaster relief resulting from last year's flooding. An additional $5,000 was awarded to Interfaith Coalition Transitional Family Network. North Whatcom County was identified as an area of need for transitional housing.
