Mid King County Chapter, Election Date and Site Selection Action Items
It's time to arrange your election social event for 2007!
This year the chapter is trying to get an earlier start on the elections for the 2007 Board Leaders. We still do not have a full slate of candidates. But we can move ahead with some of the arrangements that need to be made.

The ideal time frame to have an election is September 17 through October 30th.

Here are some preliminary action items Congregational Coordinators need to take to make arrangements for the upcoming Mid King County Chapter Leadership Board Elections.

Please ask the officials in your church for permission to hold the election on September 17th, or an acceptable alternative date between September 17th and October 30th. Some churches hold coffees after each church service and hold the election. Some churches have a lunch or dinner for the election event. Whatever you choose as your election social event, your expenses for copying and buying food will be reimbursed up to $250 per church.

When you have a confirmed election date at your site, please notify Loral Pritchett immediately:  call (206) 878-6757.

By holding elections during this time period, the candidate-elects will have time to transition into their new jobs with help from outgoing leaders. They can attend meetings and receive any materials and guidance that's necessary to make a smooth transition into the new year and the new leadership board.

Come to the MKC Chapter Picnic August 19 .... Bring your fellow Congregational Coordinators!
Congregational Coordinators need to pick up election packets at the August 19th All Chapter Picnic at VanDoren’s Landing Park in Kent at noon. Please don't forget to RSVP your attendance to Dianne Green, Event Coordinator, at 253-872-0460 as soon as possible.

All Coordinators who pick-up their election packets at the picnic will receive a special gift certificate. More importantly, we'll have fun!  We'll meet all the coordinators in other churches, and have time to fellowship, ask questions, and enjoy the day.

Packets will include: Expense forms, instructions, biographies, sample bulleting or newsletter announcements, and if available, election ballots, if we have a slate of candidates by the picnic, and other fun items from Thrivent Financial.

We appreciate you and couldn't run the chapter without you! Thank you, thank you. And we'd love to see you in person to thank you at the picnic. Call Loral Pritchett if you need more information...

Preparing Folks for the Upcoming Election Events...
Coordinators, could you please put these notices in your church’s August newsletter or bulletin?

Board Member Nominees Needed for Mid-King County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans by September 1st, 2006:

Elections are being scheduled in most participating congregations in the Mid King County Chapter on September 17. We need to have nominees in order to have quality and legitimate elections. Please nominate yourself or someone who consents to run. To get on the ballot or gain more information about qualifications, call Loral Pritchett at (206) 878-6757, or Mae Tacke (206) 839-3405.

We need your talents, time and expertise to help and care for community projects. Please submit your nominations for these Mid-King County Chapter Leadership Board positions soon: President, Vice President, Records Director, Financial Director, Communications Director, Community Service Team Director, and Congregational Service Team Director, Events Coordinator, and Youth Director.

Elected leadership and appointed leadership board positions are one-year terms. The term limit is four consecutive years. Most leaders enjoy the fellowship and rewarding work, and run for re-election after they learn the ropes. If you serve four consecutive years, you can be eligible to serve on the chapter leadership board after three years. If you serve in an elected position for three consecutive years, you can sit out for one year, and then be eligible to serve again in an elected position for another four consecutive years.
