All 17 congregations in Mid King County Chapter requested all funds available for Care in Congregations® (CIC) projects for 2006, completing 31 projects, and volunteering 5,527 hours. For 2007, there are $26,255 available for CAIC projects, and $1,300 to $1,600 for each congregation for CIC projects. Now is the time to identify needs in your congregation and community and apply for funding needed to complete service projects and supplement fund raisers.

| Care Abounds in Communities® Projects - Taking Applications |
Identify a need, form a team comprised of 6 different Thhrivent member households, and complete a CAIC project. You can work with Thrivent members in your own congregation, or team up with members from other churches to help meet needs in your community. Go to http://www.thrivent.com/members/volunteer/forms.html to help you get started. If you need help finding or filling out the appropriate form, contact a chapter board member.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has a program called Care in Congregations® where funding is provided to Thrivent Financial members to conduct fund-raising and/or hands-on service activities to benefit your congregation or its related Lutheran institutions? In fact, Thrivent Financial members are encouraged to use the funds to help the congregation in its ministry to the community. If you see a need in your congregation that could be helped through this funding, please contact a Thrivent Financial congregational coordinator in your congregation. If you don't know who your three congregational coordinators are, please contact a member of our chapter leadership board as noted in this newsletter, and he/she will help you get in touch with a coordinator.

| Join the Fun — form a JOIN HANDS DAY service team! |
Joining Hands, Touching Lives is the theme of JOIN HANDS DAY, the only national day of service that is specifically designed to bring youth and adults together to improve their communities through volunteering. Consider forming a JOIN HANDS DAY service team. Your activity will qualify as a Thrivent chapter activity eligible for funding from your Thrivent chapter. Your service team needs to include individuals or families from at least six Thrivent Financial member households, and you must involve youth in choosing and planning the activity. Members are encouraged to hold their JOIN HANDS DAY activities on May 5, but for this year, JOIN HANDS DAY activities held between April 1 and June 30 still may be eligible for funding from the chapter. Check out the Join Hands page on the Thrivent site, or call a chapter leader if you have any questions. http://www.thrivent.com/members/volunteer/joinhands.html
Are you aware that as a member of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, financial gifts you make to a Lutheran organization might be able to be supplemented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans? Through Thrivent Financial's GivingPlus® program, members can donate financial gifts to two different Lutheran organizations enrolled in the program each year, and Thrivent Financial will contribute $1 for every $2, up to $300 per year for each organization. For example, if you donate gifts of $600 or more to two eligible Lutheran organizations each, Thrivent Financial will contribute an additional $600 ($300 for each organization). In addition, Thrivent Financial will contribute an additional $25 for members who volunteer 25 hours or more at the organization receiving their gift. All you need to do is complete a GivingPlus Member Gift form (available online or from the Lutheran organization) and submit it with your donation to the Lutheran organization. It's a very simple process.
For complete details and guidelines about this one-of-a-kind member benefit program and for copies of the Member Gift form, go to www.thrivent.com/fraternal/churchcommunity/givingplus.html.
