Care Abounds in Communities applications will be considered at the first meeting of the Leadership Board and Congregational Advocates at Zion Lutheran Church at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 21st, reports newly re-elected chapter president Marilyn Minchinton.
“By that time we hope to have the dollar amount available to the chapter for projects in 2012. We like to approve projects early in the year so that project leaders can plan.”
Chapter members are encouraged to discuss potential projects with their Congregational Advocates who have experience in guiding projects through the approval process. Members may get copies of the forms from their advocates to see the guidelines and requirements for the projects.
“We have had very good response in the past,” says Minchinton, “and are happy to say that all the 2011 Care Abounds in Communities projects were successfully completed!” Chapter members and friends raised 100% of the funds needed to qualify for the maximum contribution from Thrivent.
The amount available to our chapter for Care Abounds in Communities in 2011 was $5,385.00, though many different conditions will influence the amount available in 2012.
Please see the list of Congregational Advocates elsewhere in this newsletter for contact information. If you are a member of Thrivent and not a member of a local congregation, please contact any of the advocates or any of the Leadership Board members with your idea.
“The important thing is to have all applications completed in time to get them to me or the CAs in time for the meeting, ideally by February 1st,” urges Minchinton. “Usually there are a number of applications so projects are generally approved at one meeting.”
Eligible recipients for the Care Abounds in Communities program are individuals, families, local communities or organizations that are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. (This includes charitable, educational and religious organizations.)
