This mailing from your Chapter Board comes with a two-prong intent.   We first of all want to give thanks to our Lord and to you for all your great support of our 2009 Habitat Builds project.  The house is very near completion and a blessing ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 18 at the home location.  Many of you have participated in the actual building - in fact so many of you have stepped forward with hammers, etc., that work times had to be curtailed in order to give everyone a chance to get in on it.  What a wonderful testament to your willingness to provide this service to the needy.  Not only have you built this home, but you have also given the Vancouver Habitat group a big boost up in getting the OK to build further homes.

We said that this letter comes with a second intent.  When this project began, our Lutheran churches agreed to join in on the financing up to 10% of the actual cost.  As of 9-10-09, $11,000 has been contributed by them, both in cash and in materials/services.  Rather than going to the churches for a final appeal - and knowing that in this economy many of those churches are in a financially tight place - we are approaching you, the individual members, and asking you to consider giving a gift of whatever size you feel able to do.  The agreed upon amount leaves a shortfall of about $4,500.00.  With all of us contributing even a small part of that, we could quickly make up that difference.  

So, that is what we leave you with - a request to consider helping cover this amount - and doing so, very soon, as  the finances should be cleared before the celebration date of Oct. 18.  Be sure to write Thrivent Builds in the memo line of your check in order to track this gift into this fund and send it to Evergreen Habitat for Humanity,  521 E 33rd St.,  Vancouver WA 98663.
