East King County Chapter Leadership Board 2007
Elected as Chapter Leaders for the East King County Chapter of Thrivent Financial are the following incumbents: Kathy Fisher, President (w #: 206-232-3270) Contact all leaders at eastkingcohapter@yahoo.com Dan Selmann, Vice President (ph #: 425-488-0344) Joe Hart, Financial Director (ph #: 425-747-6001) Leslie Urie, Records Director (ph #: 425-391-8737) Jeff Brady, Congregational Service Team Director (ph #: 206-362-1330) Thanks to each of you for volunteering your time! Because of you, thousands of dollars are distributed to worthy causes throughout the East King County area. Thanks, too, to the churches that participated in Thrivent Financial elections in November.
Thank you to all the congregational coordinators who arranged to have elections in their respective churches. We are so sorry that the amount granted was incorrectly stated as $150 in the first emails that were sent around. The actual amount is $50. We have sent checks to all congregations who participated. Again, we apologize for the miscommunication and truly appreciate your participation. We hope the $50 will help sponsor a Christmas coffee hour or support a worthy project. Sincerely, The East King County Chapter Board Members.
Who are your Congregational Coordinators for 2007?
Each church should have three people identified as Congregational Coordinators through Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Requirements to be a Congregational Coordinator are a desire to help your congregation and others, and being a Thrivent Financial member. To all church secretaries, pastors and/or Congregational Coordinators: please take a moment now and identify your Congregational Coordinators to Jeff Brady at 206-362-1330 or e-mail him via eastkingcochapter@yahoo.com. Please do this even if your Coordinators have not changed. Provide names, phone numbers and e-mail (if available).
Training for Congregational Coordinators 2007
If you have wondered "How do I take advantage of this Thrivent Financial money I keep hearing about?" --this is the article for you! There will be three training sessions for Congregational Coordinators in the beginning of 2007. You do not need to be a "new" Congregational Coordinator to attend. In fact, we would like to offer an incentive: to each church that has Congregational Coordinators sign up and attend a training session, even if you have attended sessions in years past, we will offer $50 toward a Thrivent Financial sponsored coffee hour. And what Lutheran church doesn't need additional coffee? Training will be offered in a one-hour session on Thursday, February 1 at 7 PM or Saturday, February 10 at 9 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Mercer Island. There is the possibility of an additional training on Thursday, February 8 at First Lutheran in Bothell. Contact Jeff Brady at 206-362-1330 to confirm.
With the New Year comes the inevitable New Year's Resolutions. Why not add "Apply Early for Thrivent Financial Funds" to the list? New 2007 Form #1's will be available in early January for Congregational Coordinators to begin filling out online (lutheransonline.com)and sending to the East King County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for approval. As you recall, we had distributed our allotted money by October of this year, so it is to your advantage to apply early! We welcome your diligence in being prepared!
Are you aware that as a member of Thrivent Financial, financial gifts you make to a Lutheran organization might be able to be supplemented? Through Thrivent Financial's GivingPlus® program, members can donate financial gifts to two different Lutheran organizations enrolled in the program each year, and Thrivent Financial will contribute $1 for every $2, up to $300 per year for each organization. For example, if you donate gifts of $600 or more to two eligible Lutheran organizations each, Thrivent Financial will contribute an additional $600 ($300 for each organization). In addition, Thrivent Financial will contribute an additional $25 for members who volunteer 25 hours or more at the organization receiving their gift. All you need to do is complete a GivingPlus Member Gift form (available online or from the Lutheran organization) and submit it with your donation to the organization. It's a very simple process. For complete details and copies of the Member Gift form, go to www.thrivent.com/fraternal/churchcommunity/givingplus.html.

Special Thanks: Janet Broadus
A special thanks to Janet Broadus for her faithful leadership with the East King County Board these past four years. Janet was instrumental in establishing an East King County chapter and one of the founding members of the East King County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. She served as Financial Director for three years. This past year she was the Assistant Financial Director. We will miss her greatly because of her insight into the policies that have been established. She also brought lunch most every month! May God bless you as you take this time "off". You have certainly earned it!
