| Golf Tournament & Auction |
The 4th Annual Habitat for Humanity EKC Golf Tournament and Auction will be held at Bear Creek Country Club in Woodinville on Monday, August 31, 2009. Summer is the best time of the year to play golf in the Pacific Northwest, and the Bear Creek Country Club is one of the best places to play! The entrance fee for this beautiful course and event is just $175. Register your foursome now at www.habitatekc.org and your church may walk home with the coveted Martin Luther Bobblehead! Of course, you may not want to golf and just attend the wonderful meal and auction following the golfers return to the clubhouse. Join the golfers for refreshments at 4:30 with dinner following. Dick and Sharon Friels will lead a lively auction at the dinner. All money raised goes to funding two homes currently being built in the Snoqualmie Ridge area. These are the six and seventh houses that Habitat for Humanity of East King County has built through the Thrivent Builds Homes project.

| Final Deadlines for Projects |
The year is more than half over and the East King County Chapter of Thrivent has been busy giving out money to worthy projects around the East King County. Having received less money this year than last due to the economic downturn that began fall of 2008, nevertheless thousands of dollars have been distributed. It has been the goal of the board to encourage more fundraisers (versus hands-on activities) to involve more church and Thrivent members. But the deadline is approaching to submit projects for consideration. Projects are considered by the East King County Chapter board at the regular monthly meeting the first Wednesday of the month. Projects may not be approved after they have occurred, and many have been returned because of a lack of information, so it is important to submit any project well in advance of the project date. The last date that the East King County Chapter will consider a project for the 2009 calendar year is November 4. All projects must be completed and paperwork submitted by Monday, November 30.
The Pacific North West Region of Thrivent, Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church and Lutheran Community Foundation are partnering to offer Thrivent members and others a valuable educational presentation. Chris Anderson of Lutheran Community Foundation will be speaking about changing lives through charitable giving with the Lutheran Community Foundation. Learn how to maximize support for your congregation, charities and causes that are important to you that are also smart estate and tax solutions. Learn too how to support church and other missions by setting up endowment funds and capital building campaigns. This event is sponsored by the NW Seattle Thrivent Chapter and will take place at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave, Seattle, WA on Thursday, September 10 from 5 PM to 7 PM. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.
