| BOARD OF DIRECTORS INFORMATION WITH ELECTION NEWS |
We still have several vacancies on the chapter leadership board and with elections fast approaching we need your input and help. These positions are still vacant: Assistant Financial Director, Communications Director, Events Director and Youth Director. There will be a vacancy for the Congregational Service Team Director in 2010. A chapter must have the five required leadership positions filled in order to receive their operating funds deposit. Leaders are also required in order to access Care Abounds in Communities® grant dollars.
So as you can see the election of chapter leaders is very important in order to continue to have a chapter that helps your community and church.
These positions only take about 3-4 hours per month and meetings are held by teleconference so you don’t have to leave home to attend. Members are especially needed from the northern part of the chapter. Anyone over the age of 16 can be a chapter leader.
PLEASE PRAYFULLY CONSIDER BEING ON THE CHAPTER LEADERSHIP BOARD FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2009 AND FOR 2010.

Join Hands Day was held on June 19, 2009. Money was donated to the Church Women United Day Care Center in Baytown to obtain rubber mulch and sand for around the playground equipment, plastic boxes to help organize the craft room, and purchased baby equipment for the new nursery,(such as swings, bouncer chairs, etc). The center had to add a second nursery due to the great need for infant care at the center. The Church Women United Day Center is a Christian based center owned by Lee College. The children that attend the day care center are from the age of 6 months to preschool age. The day care center helps parents obtain good qualified Christian child care with fees based on income and students of the Leeway Program at Lee College. The child care center really appreciated our support and help in this project.
"Thrivent On The Boardwalk” will be held on October 17, 2009 with rain date October 24, 2009. Postcards were mailed and we had great response with all the tickets being sold. Thanks for the great response.
