CHAPTER LEADERSHIP BOARD ELECTIONS....A CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Are you a nominee for a Thrivent Chapter Leadership Board position? Maybe you know someone who is. Nominations are now in order for Chapter Leadership Board Positions for 2005. If you would like to run or know of someone interested, please contact Elaine Brundrett at 361 991-7947 by November 1, 2004 to place that name in nomination. Elections will be held at the annual meeting on November 13, 2004 in Sinton.
Our Present Chapter Leadership Board consist of:

Chapter leaders may serve four one-year terms, with two chapter leaders replaced at each election. However, since the chapter board is new to Thrivent Financial beginning in 2003, we need to think about replacements for board members who have served their four year terms at next year's annual meeting.

| 17 Congregations Leaving $23,700.00 On The Table |
Does any of this $23,700.00 belong to your congregation? At the release of this newsletter, eighteen of the thirty-eight Lutheran Congregations within the scope of the Gulf Coast Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans have not attempted a Care In Congregations® project or activity to claim their funds. Deadlines are rapidly approaching. It is most urgent that you act soon, if you are a congregational coordinator for any of the eighteen. Contact Eunice Lewis at (361)850-8046 if you need help on how to get approval to receive the funding reserved in your congregation's name for 2004. Most congregations are allotted $1,300.00 ($100.00 more than 2003). If you don't use 'em, you'll lose 'em!!!

Who Wants to Help Determine Funding for Those in Need?
WANTED: A person with a caring heart to determine how best to distribute funds to needy people and nonprofit organizations in our community, or to help your congregation. For details about the following volunteer opportunities with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, call Leroy DeHaven (361) 993-8719.
CONGREGATIONAL COORDINATOR position. Through the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Care in Congregations program, your church--one of thirty-eight in the Gulf Coast Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans--had, on average, $1,300.00 for each congregation available for Thrivent Financial members to conduct activities to benefit your church and/or its ministry to the community. Three congregational coordinators are required to help administer the program and initiate funding requests for the activities. If you are interested in serving as a congregational coordinator in your church, contact Eunice Lewis at (361) 850-8046.
CHAPTER LEADER position. Through its Care Abounds in Communities(TM) program, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provides funding for members who, through volunteer activities, want to aid people and nonprofit organizations needing help in the community. In 2004, your Gulf Coast Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans had $26, 535.00 of funds available for this purpose. The chapter leadership board is responsible for reviewing funding requests and deciding on the amount of funds to provide for each request. New people are now being sought for chapter leader positions to help continue the fraternal benefit tradition of helping others.
REQUIREMENTS for volunteer positions: A Thrivent Financial member, a desire to help others, and five to 12 hours per month of volunteer time.
BENEFITS: A smile on the faces of others you've helped and a good feeling in knowing you've made a difference in someone's life.

| Honoring Those Who Served |
Congregational Coordinators serving Lutheran Congregations within the Gulf Coast Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, are asked to be on the look out for an invitation in your mail. It will concern a special recognition for those of you who have volunteered your time to make those "funded" projects possible. Your congregation appreciates you, and your chapter leadership board appreciates you. We want you to know that without you, "not much happens". More details will be outlined in this special mailing.
