| FAITH LUTHERAN YOUTH RAISE $10,000 IN AUCTION! |
Faith Lutheran High School youth held their third annual auction on May 7 and were surprised to top the totals for last year. The raised nearly $9000. Pies wer going for $60 each. The "Care in Congregation" supplemental funds helped bring this total to a five digit number. This event, called Auction Fest, began with a Bar-B-Q Baked Potato Sale which began after the first service and ending with a drawing for a wrought iron bench at 2:30 pm. It's what happened in-between that brought in most of the money and brought the most fun. Auction items included 36 cedar trellis and 6 Adirondick chairs that they built under the direction of one of their sponsors, Jason Sturgis. The youth also sold work hours. Other auction items included tickets, trellis, weekend retreats, pies, dinners, tickets and paintings. Mike Button also donated his Cajun cooking for a visit to Brenham. It was a great turn-out and everyone left talking about how much fun they had. This was an event put on by the High School youth to raise money to go to San Antonio as well as Wisconsin to the Apostle's islands. Faith is proud of the ministries of their youth. They had participated in the building of the Lutheran Habitat for Humanity House and became so interested that they went on landscaping that house as well as four other Habitat houses. Thrivents link to our churches had made this year a red letter year for the high school youth of Faith Lutheran.
