Expanded Habitat for Humanity - Opportunity 2006
Thrivent Financial has announced a Huge expanded relationship with HABITAT FOR HUMANITY (HFHI) beginning in 2006. We are timely as a Chapter in fostering a relationship with the E Wharton County HFHI affliate and learning how to access supplemental funding . Members at St. Paul's Wharton led the interest level in HFH and successfully received a $5,000 grant as a start up affliate in 2005 as part of Thrivent Financial's current program.

Significant impact expected
Over the coming years, Thrivent Financial with its members will be contributing millions of dollars and many thousands of volunteer hours to strengthen families and communities and provide decent, affordable housing for families. We expect to:

Contribute at least $25 million of corporate funding to supplement funds raised by chapters and congregations.

Build 500 homes per year in the United States, and contribute to the construction of another 500 abroad, for a total of 1,000 homes annually as of 2006.

Engage 100,000 volunteers who invest a combined 500,000 hours of volunteer time in Thrivent Builds projects every year.

Support 100 congregational mission trips annually.

Families Feeding Families - Thanksgiving, 2005
On Thanksgiving Day we intend to join families in W. Houston, North Central Houston and Southwest Houston Chapters to provide a Thanksgiving Meal and Fellowship for those who have needs to join a Fellowshipping time to share with each other. It is expected that we will set up venues around the West side of of Hoston and provide a hot Thanksgiving meal for those who need to support each other and our neighbors who may need a safe place to share a meal. School districts and Assistance Ministries will be invited to provide support and potential needs as we build up a program.

GivingPlus

Your gift to a Lutheran organization can accomplish even more through the GivingPlus program.

Are you aware that as a member of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, financial gifts you make to a Lutheran organization might be able to be supplemented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans?

Through Thrivent Financial's GivingPlus program, members can donate financial gifts to two different Lutheran organizations enrolled in the program each year, and Thrivent Financial will contribute $1 for every $2, up to $300 per year for each organization. For example, if you donate gifts of $600 or more to two eligible Lutheran organizations each, Thrivent Financial will contribute an additional $600 ($300 for each organization). In addition, Thrivent Financial will contribute an additional $25 for members who volunteer 25 hours or more at the organization receiving their gift.

All you need to do is complete a GivingPlus Member Gift form (available online or from the Lutheran organization) and submit it with your donation to the Lutheran organization. It's a very simple process.

For complete details and guidelines about this one-of-a-kind member benefit program and for copies of the Member Gift form, go to www.thrivent.com/fraternal/churchcommunity/givingplus.html. If you used the program in the past, please review the site for excellent enhancements made to the 2005 program, which allow even more members to make an even greater impact to the organizations they support through their gifts.
