The chapter is half way through the construction of a Habitat For Humanity Home at 903 Preston in Richmond. Since we last communicated, there has been a trade of houses by two of the three owners on our corner tract. The new owner family at 903 Preston is Mary Ann Ross and her husband Gerald Francis. They have one son Ryan who has a seizure disorder and will also have their 84 year old grandmother Katherine Collier living with them. Mary Ann and their extended family are on site and working hard every Saturday. Come out and meet them. They are delightful people. We have completed five Saturdays of construction to date. Chapter churches who have been volunteer providers and site hosts to date are Peace Lutheran, Trinity Lutheran, St. Martin Lutheran, and St. Paul Lutheran/ Rosenberg. The next three Saturdays will be hosted by Faith/St. Philip on October 24th, Fishers of Men on the 31st and Living Word on November 7th. We may have an additional two work days to cover for volunteering and site hosting depending on progress. If your church is not involved this year please consider working with us. The home has all of the siding and roof decking up currently. If rough plumbing and electrical are installed this week we will be installing shingles, insulating, installing sheetrock nailers and painting. It is inspiring to see over one hundred volunteers swarm over the three homes under construction each week. Please come out and be a part of this excellent ministry in our community.
We will have an election for Chapter officers for 2010 during the November 8th annual meeting. All of the current chapter leaders are willing to stand for election with the exception of Donna Janik, our Financial Director who is term limited and cannot continue. We are actively recruiting a replacement for Donna, if that is possible, and we would welcome any suggestions for candidates. This is the potential slate of officers for 2010.
