Please bring your Care Abounds in Communities® projects to the chapter board meetings. Bring them early so they can be considered for the amounts requested. During 2006, 17 projects were supplemented for a total of $15,675.00. These projects received funding amounts of $250.00 up to $3,000.00. The projects raised money in the community, included hands on service projects, fund raisers and service activities. Projects can be from any of the following catagories. Cash Assistance, Disaster Assistance, Education, Elderly, Environmental, Equipment, Food/Hunger, General Living Expenses, Health/Medical, Indigent, New Construction, Religious/Worship, Rent, Repairs/maintenance, Supplies, Utilities, Youth/Student and other Items. Your funding request are filled on a first come first served basis. The Chapter Board reviews each and every request. For 2007 the Care Abounds in Communities® Funding has been raised to $17,280.00. Funding request can come from a church congregational coordinator or a member of Thrivent who is working on the project requesting funding. Come early with your request, the sooner the better, then you will know what kind of funding your project will receive. Remember, you do not have to wait for a Chapter meeting at your church to apply. We look forward to seeing you soon.
The Chapter will be building a Habitat home in 2007. We will start building the new home in late March, 2007. The project will take about 13 weeks. Anyone wishing to help should e-mail one of the chapter leaders, or e-mail the Thrivent Builds Chapter Specialist. The Chapter will be raising money to help with the funding of the home. We hope to raise between $6,200.00 and $10,000.00 for our part of the project. Join in, we are looking for Congregational Champions to help in each congregation, now is the time to come forward, your help is needed.
The North Alabama Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans welcomes all new members and would like to extend a welcome for them to attend the chapter board meetings. Everyone is welcome.
During 2006 the Thrivent Chapter held member events. All members are invited to these events. We had a picnic with a train ride in 2006, and for the third year a lunch for the volunteers. We appreciate all that you do for your church and the community. Come and meet other members at these and other events during the year. The Thrivent Builds project is a new project in 2007 for the chapter. We ask for your input and help with this project, everyone is welcome and appreciated.
