Care Abounds in Communities®
Care Abounds in Communities funds can be used for any community project in Logan County that would help benefit the community. Anyone in our chapter can organize a community service team and help others. Funds were recently approved by the Logan County ILChapter for funds to be allocated to a benefit for Harry Dean Boward, Hartsburg Fire Dept. and Logan County Health Dept./AFSCME Council 131 Local 1277. Care Abounds in Communities money was also used to help with funds from the Zion Lutheran School Pancake and Sausage Breakfast in Lincoln.
Benefit for Harry Dean Boward
A benefit for Harry Dean Boward is planned for June 10, 2006 at New Holland-Middletown School with a supper to be served from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM with an auction to start at 7:00 PM. There will be a band or DJ also. Harry is experiencing health problems and the money will be used to help with medical expenses and cost of travel for treatments. All are invited to attend this event or help in any way possible.
Hartsburg Fire/Rescue Dept.
Hartsburg Fire and Rescue Dept.will have a Fireman's Day Fund Raiser for the purchase of new fire suits. These suits are very costly and new suits are badly needed. The fund raiser will be held on June 17 with a dinner served from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at the Harstburg Fire Station.

The "House calls" program at the Logan County Health Dept. needs funds to provide bath aide services to senior citizens of Logan County. The grant funding for this program has been eliminated and there are many senior citizens who need this service and cannot afford it. The Logan County Health Dept. employees will have a bake sale and sandwich sale at the Lincoln IGA on Saturday, November 4, 2006. Thrivent volunteers, union and non union members will be participating in this sale.
The seventh annual JOIN HANDS DAY was on Saturday, May 6, 2006. This national day of volunteering sparks friendships among people of all generations as youth and adults come together to plan and conduct activities to improve their communities. We hope you participated in this special day, which is sponsored by America's Fraternal Benefit Socities, including Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
