| Logan County Chapter--Care Abounds in Communities Funds, 2007 |
The Logan County Chapter of Thrivent Financial coordinates the spending of the Care Abounds in Communities funds . In 2007, Thrivent allotted Logan County $12,040 for us to use in the community for special needs, requests, and help as needed. The following is how this money was spent for 2007: Zion Lutheran PTL for Pancake and Sausage Meal $1600 Faith Lutheran Turkey Noodle Dinner for Christian Ed. Fund $500 Family for medical needs $1000 Garage sale to fund a youth group trip $350 Fundraiser in Hartsburg-medical needs $1600 Benefit at County fair--medical needs $1600 Baseball diamond bleachers --Eagle scout project $500 Community supper--Hartsburg,medical needs $1600 Good Shepherd fundraiser for medical needs $1000 Food Pantry replenishing $1500 Oasis fundraiser $490 Community Center--painting and carpet repair $252 The remaining $48 was unable to be used as we were past the deadline for requests when the final figures came in from the projects. A service team within our chapter received a special grant form Stephenson County Chapter for $750 to build a ramp for a family in need. This request came after all our county funds had been requested. The ramp was built with volunteer labor. The board discusses each request at length for the use of the funding. We are always open to requests from members of Logan County plus any outside requests. We try to help as many people as possible with the funding we are allotted each year. Thrivent gives us such a benefit by providing this funding to enable us to help the people of Logan County. It truly is a blessing to be able to do this!
