Logan County IL Chapter, "Wrapping up" 2008
New Board Member for the Logan County IL Thrivent Board
The annual meeting for Logan County IL Thrivent Chapter was held November 9, 2008 at the Zion Lutheran Education Building. A great meal was served by Lincoln College catering. A short business meeting followed with several door prizes given out. It really was a nice time of fellowship. At the business meeting, along with other elected leaders, we elected a new vice-president for our chapter. Dawn Ferguson was elected for this position. Dawn has a vested interest in Thrivent already! She was the recipient of the Thrivent Builds home in 2007. Dawn and her children put in a lot of long hours and worked side by side with the workers at the home. She also saw the kindness and generosity of many people who brought food, worked, and donated their time and talent to make her home a reality. If not for the Thrivent Builds program, Dawn's house may not have been a reality. What a wonderful blessing for her and her children. The Logan County IL Board has the opportunity to request funding for another Thrivent Builds home to be built in Logan County. We would like to thank Bob Huelskoetter for his years of service and dedication as Vice President of the Logan County IL Thrivent Board! Thank you, Bob!
Care Abounds in Communities
The Logan County IL Thrivent Chapter was allotted $12,155 for our Care Abounds in Communities program funding for 2008. The board decides on each request that comes in for funding, whether it meets the criteria for funding and if it would benefit someone in the community. An activity for any individual or family and any charitable, educational, religious, or other organization exempt from federal income tax may be approved if they fall under the 501(c)(3) IRS code . It can be a fund-raising activity or a "hands-on" activity. Please help us spread the word that these funding are available and can be used for anyone in Logan County. The activities approved for 2008 were:
