The Logan County IL Chapter of Thrivent Financial would like to thank our congregational coordinators with a supper and short program on Friday, April 24. We know you put in a lot of volunteer hours to help your congregations use the funds that Thrivent Financial allocates to each congregation. We really appreciate all of your time and efforts. We would like to recognize all of our congregational coordinators:
This year, two of our board members will be leaving the board. They have each held the office for the maximum time allowed and need to be replaced with a new face. Katherine Yaple is our Financial Director and has done an excellent job and will be leaving the board at the end of this year. We need someone to fill this position. She keeps our financial records and pays bills as they arise. Also, Kenda Jones is our communications director and will be leaving the board at the end of the year. She is the communications director and does the newsletter and helps with any publicity and mailings. If you are interested in either of these positions, please contact our board president, Dave Coers at (217)445-2480. These positions are essential to our Logan County IL Chapter for funding from Thrivent. Please consider volunteering your time to this worthy cause!
Each year, Thrivent provides each chapter with funding for Join Hands Day projects in our community. This year the funding was decreased to $500, Thrivent is encouraging that we pick two projects for funding. Zion Lutheran Church, Chestnut requested funding to help with projects for shut-ins who are unable to do work on their homes. The Thrivent Board decided to give $250 for this project with our Join Hands Day funding. The Board also decided to use the other $250 for the Logan County Food Pantry plus do a food drive for the food pantry on May 24 with all Logan County Lutheran Churches to be encouraged to donate food. The congregational coordinators will organize this for their congregations. Please help us with this project.
