| Nominations for your Local Leadership Board |
Greetings, it's time for the Thrivent Chapter Elections and we need volunteers to serve on your Local Chapter Board – The Southern Ohio Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Section VII of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Constitution for Chapters requires five elected positions in order for the chapter to operative effectively and carry out their mission. There are also five optional elected positions and four advisory positions, which are appointed. Please note internet access is required for certain positions and strongly expected for remaining positions.
Brief descriptions of each board position are included. Detailed information is available on line at CHIP (http://www.thrivent.com/members/chip/leadership/index.html) or by contacting any of your current Chapter Leadership Board Members or Financial Representative.
President: The President provides leadership to the board, schedules and conducts chapter meetings, and provides direction to service teams. Vice President: The Vice President provides leadership in the absence of the president, serves as legislative contact for the chapter, and ensures recognition of volunteer efforts.
Congregational Service Team Director: The Congretational Service Team Director supports the chapters congregational coordinators and service teams, serves as liaison between the chapter and the congregational coordinators, trains and supports congregational coordinators.
Financial Director (internet access required): Manages the chapter’s operating funds budget, including reimbursing and maintaining records for operating funds expenses and reporting expenditures online, and verifies, tracks and responds to service team program funding requests.
Records Director (internet access required): The Records Director maintains accurate and current records for the chapter leadership board, and provides leadership to the administrative functions of the board.
Communications Director: The Communications Director communicates with congregations and communities. Don’t let the optional designation mislead you! This is a critical function of the board! Assistant Financial Director: The Assistant Financial Director assists the financial director. This too is an important position!
Community Service Team Director: The Community Service Team Director trains and supports community teams and ensures all forms are completed.
Events Director: The Events Director helps determine appropriate recognition and events sponsored by the chapter leadership board.
Youth Director: The Youth Director supports and represents youth and their involvement on the Chapter Leadership Board.
In addition to the elected positions, the Leadership Board has advisor positions. Advisory positions are appointed. Internet Advisor: Develops and maintains the chapter Web site. The Southern Ohio Chapter currently does not have an Internet Advisor. Whether you are Internet savvy or just enjoy surfing the web, this is a great opportunity to get involved with your board!
Financial Representative Advisor: Serves as the voice of the Regional Financial Office and the Manager of Lutheran Community Services. Bud Scharfetter currently serves in this role.
Program advisor: Provides updates about Thrivent Financial fraternal programs.
