| LOCAL TEEN NEEDS OUR SUPPORT FOR LONG TERM CARE |
The Morris County Thrivent Chapter Board and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Rockaway are inviting all Morris County Lutheran churches to participate in a special fund drive to benefit a local teen. Tina Witowsky was a Junior at Morris Knolls High School on October 25, 2006 when she suddenly suffered a bleed to her brain due to an undiagnosed birth defect. The condition is known as an Arterio Venous Malformation (AVM). Tina remains in a semi-conscious state and requires total assistance in daily living activities. After nine months and over twelve surgeries, Tina has returned to her home. She has a strong determination and is very courageous in her struggle to overcome this condition. Tina was an active Morris Knolls High School student. She served as the junior class representative to student government; was vice-president of the chorus and performed in Chorus, Chorale and Madrigals. She was a member of the County and All-State Choirs. She also served as co-president of the Theater Club and appeared in two all-school musicals and two student productions.
Her family will continue to work tirelessly to return Tina to the best possible level of independence that she knew prior to her trauma. Your support will help Tina and her family move towards that goal. Please keep them in your prayers and add your support to this all county project.

| POSITIONS OPEN ON THE MORRIS COUNTY CHAPTER BOARD |
Each year, a new slate of people running for board positions is needed. Since service is limited to a four year term, there is a constant turn-over as experienced people leave the board to make way for new personnel. So, we are looking for individuals who want to be a part of this volunteer service team! You will enjoy being a part of the board! Meetings are held monthly, either in a physical location or by teleconferencing. Discussions and decisions are conducted in a friendly atmosphere. Our goal is always to consider the requests from our 18 Morris Co. congregations for support of the Care Abounds in Communities activities that are proposed. It is a real joy to add supplemental funds to the projects planned to help others.
Please consider joining the board! You will receive much support form the current board and past members. Training help is provided and coaching is ongoing. No experience necessary!
Contact Neil Holzman (973-659-9299) to indicate your interest and to ask questions.
* Over $6000 remains in the Care Abounds in Communities Chapter allocation. Please take a look at the support projects your congregation initiates and ask for supplemental funds. Food pantries, LWR, individuals in need, flood victims, local care agencies, Habitat, or any non-profit group that needs support can receive supplementary funds from Thrivent. Need help with the form? Call Peggy at 973-998-0725. * Two projects were completed on Join Hands Day! Closets were built at Hillside Manor Veterans Home and a work day was conducted at a Morristown Habitat for Humanity site. Several congregations were represented at the work sites. Next year - let's aim for greater participation and do more!
* Seed money provided to get you "started"! The board has voted to provide up to $200 of seed money for supplies essential to conduct a project. These can include: supplies for a breakfast or dinner; plants for a plant sale; refreshments for a coffee house. Have an idea? Call a board member to discuss!
* Remember that the chapter will provide funds for 2 celebration cakes (up to $50. each); $100 for mailing packages (to college students, soldiers, LWR, etc); up to $200 seed money for approved projects; $10 per Thrivent service team person working at a Habitat site; and funds for a Thrivent sponsored social. Call Peggy (973-998-0725) to inquire if funds are available for your idea!
* Elections will be conducted in your local congregation this fall. Plan to vote! More information to follow!
