| Stark County Chapter, Celebrates Completion and Dedicates 5 Houses |
| Lutherans, Thrivent and Habitat Finish 5 More Houses |
The Dedication Celebration for the 5 Habitat Houses that were built this year under the " THRIVENT BUILDS WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY " will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 127 Cherry Rd. Massillon, OH on Thursday evening, October 22,2009 at 7:00 pm. Many Lutherans who own products of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and therefore are members of the Stark County Chapter of Thrivent, volunteered hundreds of hours to help build these 5 new homes for families that really needed better places to live. The Thrivent Members along with a host of their fellow Lutherans, the Partner Family Members who were working to get in their 300 sweat equity hours, and all the Habitat Staff, Site Supervisors, and a multitude of Habitat volunteers came out to the work sites almost every Saturday and Thursday since March to get the houses finished. Along the way we were blessed and pleased to receive help from many individuals and groups from other churches, schools and organizations including the Football Hall of Fame Queen and her Attendants who came and put on siding one Saturday.
In addtion to providing workers to help build, Lutheran volunteers prepared and delivered snacks at the morning Break & Devotion time and lunch for all the workers at noon for each work site every scheduled work day. On several occasions we were pleased to accept offers to provide food from a Pizza Shop, Restaurant and several local churches in the communities where the houses were being built.
The Partner Families thank everyone who helped make this dream come true for them.
The good news is : With the abundance of volunteers the houses were finished in record time. The bad news is : The funding of 10% of the cost by our Lutheran Community is lagging behind.
Churches and / or individuals may contribute toward our Lutheran 10% committment. ( $ 37,500.00 )

The four year program where Thrivent joined with Habitat and put in $ 165,000,000.00 to build 1300 habitat houses has come to an end. Under this program your Stark Chapter of Thrivent Financial along with the Carroll / Harrisson Chapter and the Stark & Carroll affiliate of Habitat for Humanity have built 16 houses. Lutherans built one house the year before with Thrivent contributing $ 10,000.00 to that one. An email from Thrivent stated that it will announce soon what level of funding it will pledge to a similar program for 2010.
At this time the Stark Chapter Leadership Board and Staff at Habitat for Humanity of Stark & Carroll Counties are waiting to see the new proposal and application process.
The response from you and your fellow Lutherans to quickly complete the funding of our committment for this year's build and have a nice carryover to start next year would encourage the Board and Habitat Staff to plan boldly for next year. As of 9/30/2009 we need $ 9660.00
Thanks again for all the help to complete the houses, and thanks in advance to all who will help complete the funding.
Blessings & Peace Darrel Rice & the Stark Chapter Board
