It is a knitting project to raise funds for breast cancer research and services through the Susan G Koman Foundation. Thrivent Financial will supply some of the yarns and we are also seeking yarn donations. The plan is to have folks knit or crochet botique quality scarves to be sold and Thrivent Financial will match the monies earned. The project is a Care in Regions activity originating out of the Miami Thrivent Financial Chapter. I have ordered 20 kits from their chapter and will provide them to any willing participant. We need you to keep track of your hours for the project to be 100% sucessful. Please contact me if you are interested. | Join Hands Day. May 1, 2004 |
We are looking for congregations to send a volunteer work force to Lutheran Apartments at 550 First Avenue South St. Petersburg Florida on Saturday May 1, 2004. This Church sponsored HUD housing facility is in need of some sprucing up their yard and our chapter is coordinating an event. The activity will start at 9AM and lunch will be provided. We hope to wrap up about 3PM. The residents are pitching in both their time as well as their money. Please contact me if your congregation is willing to send some gardeners and helpers and we will coordinate what tools we will need. We would like to have a mix of kids and adults. Parking will be avaliable in the lot on the northeast corner of the block. As a Join Hands Day project we will be participating with thousands of others across the nation to promote the volunteer spirit.
