| South Pinellas County Chapter, 2006 Wrap UP |
The year 2006 was an outstanding year for the South Pinellas County Chapter. The Lutheran community came together and sucessfully built our first Habitat for Humanity Home for Celia Gibson. The dedication was a joyous occasion and well attended by her family, Habitat staff, volunteers, Lutherans, neighbors and Thrivent officials. We are greatful for the opportunity to participate in such a worthwhile event. Our chapter will not provide direct support of a home in 2007 but will assist our North Pinellas Chapter in their efforts. Fred Olson has been elected to serve as President for the 2007 year. This will be Fred's first opportunity to serve on the South Pinellas Chapter Board. We will be assisting him in his transition. There will be a leaders training early February 2007 and we plan to schedule our 2007 Congregational Coordinator training after that date in late February. Ernie Graetz will be serving as our new Congregational Service Team Director. He will also be attending the new leaders meeting in February. We will send out post cards announcing that important Congregational Coordiantor meeting soon, so watch your mail.
Our chapter has had some great moments in 2006. As each of you plan your resolutions for 2007 look around you and pay close attention to where God is at work in your congregation, community and the world. Your chapter will be assisting you in those events that allow the people of God to step out in faith and make a difference to others. It may be a small event to help a physically challanged friend gain access to their home. Perhaps you will participate in one of the 2007 Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity projects. Others will partner with youth on Join Hands Day.
Each one of us is gifted by God to serve. We are looking forward to a new partnership with All Children's Hospital of St. Petersburg and will soon have a great story regarding that partnership. Please invite your friends and family to get involved with your congregational outreach and community service projects.
