West Dodge County Chapter, Summer 2009
Greetings from your Chapter Board Members. President Bev Grams wishes everyone a safe summer.
WANTED: A person with a caring heart and a desire to help others
Imagine yourself as part of a group of caring people with the opportunity to decide how best to use funding that benefits people in need and your community. Imagine being able to increase the impact that money has through community involvement, awareness, additional funds raised and the caring work of many hands. And imagine being able to help Thrivent Financial members come together for charitable, educational and social purposes. Chapter leaders with the West Dodge County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans do just that. There are two vacant positions on the board that should be filled. Won’t you please consider volunteering? We meet once a month on the second Tuesday at 6:00 pm. Please feel free to call any of the board members for more information or join us at a meeting to see how you can help. Open positions include the Communication Director and Youth Director.
Fun Activities for Fall 2009
There are some exciting and fun activities coming up this fall for West Dodge County Thrivent members. Mark your calendars and plan on joining us for these great opportunities for entertainment and fellowship. On Sunday, September 13, 2009, we will be boarding a bus at 12:00 Noon at the Heritage Mall parking lot and heading to the Schauer Center at Hartford for a 2:00 pm matinee performance of "Church Basement Ladies". This is a very funny play and it stars William Christopher, best known for his role as Father Mulcahy on the M.A.S.H. TV series. The cost to members for this trip will be $32.00.
Less than a month later on Saturday, October 3, 2009, after eating an early lunch at home, we will again be boarding a bus at 12:00 Noon at the Heritage Mall parking lot to drive to Wautoma for a 2:00 pm matinee performance of the Clausen Family Music Show being held at the McCombs Bruchs PAC in Wautoma. This is their Fall Spectacular Music Show and will remind us of a show you might see in Branson. The cost to members for this trip will be $15.00.
Transportation cost for both of these trips is being paid for by the Chapter.
To attend either one or both of these shows, make reservations with Carol Lathrop by calling 920-887-7250 or email her at carollathrop@hotmail.com. We have a limited number of seats, so let us know as soon as possible if you would like to attend with us.
Be sure to mark your calendar for October 11, 2009 as this is the date of our Annual Election Event to be held at Bayside Supper Club. Further details on this event will be announced later this fall.
Seven projects have already been completed this spring, with eight more projects approved. Show your support for these upcoming funded events in the next few months: July 12, 2009 - Stop by and purchase a root beer float while enjoying a Day In The Park craft show. August 19-23, 2009 - Stop by and purchase a cream puff while spending a day at the Dodge County Fair.
If you are planning a Care Abounds in Communities fund-raiser or hands-on service project, submit your requests for funds to Jeanne Lamers at 142 Charlton Street, Beaver Dam, WI 53916 or email jlamers@charter.net.
