Your Ozaukee County Chapter Board has been busy once again coming up with all kinds of great events for our chapter. We are doing what we can to provide events and support projects that you our members what to see us doing in Ozaukee county. Listed below is information on the events we have coming up this year. In some cases you will see a contact name listed, if you don't see a name by an event that you want more information about please feel free to contact Diana Eggold our Community Service Team Director and she will hopefully be able to help you out. Your Thrivent Chapter Board is currently planning out this years activities. Please check back in the near future for more updates on the events we have coming up.

If your organization would like to apply for Care Abounds In Community funding please so so soon. Our funding has been decreased to help fund the Action Team program and we want to make sure we are able to help our members with their great projects.

If you have not yet learned about Action teams please see the posting below. Each Thrivent member can organize two Action Teams per year. We will be highlighting Action Team Events in our area as much as we can.

Breakfast at the Bog Member Event – Saturday, March 21st
Thrivent members are invited to join the Ozaukee County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for a free
breakfast at the Bog on Saturday, March 21st 8:00-10:00am. Thrivent’s Action Teams will be the focus of this gathering.
Susan Matz will be presenting information on Action Teams. Come learn just how easy it is to apply and
even brainstorm a little on ways in which you can help causes you support through the Action Team
program. Through Action Teams Thrivent is helping its members make a difference in their communities.
Breakfast will begin at 8:00 am and the presentation will start at 8:30 am.

Free Document Shredding – Saturday, April 18th, 9:00-11:00am
The Ozaukee County Chapter along with the financial representatives from Stone Creek Associates and
the Cedar Creek Associates of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are hosting a document shredding event.
Stop by and shred any unneeded sensitive documents using Strongbox Document Destruction with no
charge! The offices are located at W67 N222 Evergreen Blvd, Suites 200 and 106 in Cedarburg. The
document shredding vehicle will be located at the South Building, lower level parking area.
Health & Legal Topics for You and Your Parents
On Saturday, May 16th, from 8:00 am -12:00 pm we will be hosting a public event that will include a
panel discussion on topics including Living Trusts, Wills, Power of Attorney, Long Term Care, Home
Care, Aging Office offerings and Medicare matters. This year we are expanding this event to include
breakout sessions on Social Media and other technology questions as well as Identity Theft. There will
also be a chance to ask questions. The event will be held at The Providence Place in Grafton. This event is aimed at people 50-70 years of age.

Continental breakfast will be available at 8:00 am and the program will be from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm.

Thrivent Night at the Park - Saturday, June 20, 6:35pm game
We are taking over the Leinenkugel Deck for the Lakeshore Chinook game against the Green Bay
Bullfrogs at Kapco Field located on the CUW campus. Your ticket includes 2 drink vouchers and
unlimited food up to the 6th inning. Tickets for the event will cost attendees $15 per person ($30 value).
Please bring along a non-perishable food item to donate to our local food pantry. Tickets for this event
will only be available through the Chapter in advance. There is a limit of 50 seats available. Information
about ordering tickets will be in our next newsletter or you can check our website for updates on this
event.

Afternoon on the River at Riveredge – Sunday, July 26, 12-
Whether you have been there many times, or perhaps you have never enjoyed the beautiful grounds of
this nature conservancy, you, your family and friends are invited to join us for an fun Sunday at
Riveredge. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a cookout by the barn and then enjoy events
including a fly fishing beginners session, a nature walk, and a presentation at the sturgeon facility. More
information will be coming out for this event. There will be limited spots for the fly fishing clinic so sign up
early. There is no set fee for this event, we just ask that you make a free-will offering to Riveredge when
you come. the event runs from 12-4pm.

Thrivent Movie Night – TBA
We are looking into presenting an outdoor family friendly movie at Cedar Creek Park in Cedarburg in
August. We will let you know more once the details have been finalized.

Shantytown Youth Event at Concordia University
This year we will be involved with hosting the Third Annual Shantytown at Concordia University
Wisconsin Friday and Saturday, October 2nd and 3rd.

This event brings together local youth to learn more about homelessness and the vision of Habitat for
Humanity “a world where everyone has a decent place to live”. This event benefits Habitat for Humanity
Ozaukee, Inc. Activities Friday night include building cardboard “shanty” homes that participants sleep in
overnight, a scavenger hunt on the university grounds, service activities and a bonfire. This year we will
have a speaker from Starting Point as well. Saturday morning participants are given breakfast and taken
by bus to do volunteer work. Last year we visited the Milwaukee Rescue Mission and Feeding America
as well as sent a group to work on the Grafton Habitat for Humanity site. This year’s event is sure to be a
great one.

Please get the dates on your calendar and make sure your high school youth come to this great event.
Participants are asked to ask for donations for our local Habitat chapter in Ozaukee County. More
information will be available later this spring. You can also find out more about Shantytown on our

How We Will Afford College- A Panel Discussion For Parents a
This October the Ozaukee County Chapter of Thrivent Financial will be hosting an open panel of financial
aid professionals who will touch upon areas such as: FAFSA, paying for college, financial aid,
scholarship programs, college saving programs and the comparison of private vs. public institutions of
learning along with the aid offered by both. We invite you to bring along any questions you may have
about applying for financial aid. This is a free event aimed at giving both parents and students the proper
tools to navigate the cost of college. It is never too early or too late to learn from experts in funding a
college education. Location and panel participants will be announced in late summer.

Veterans Event – Sunday, November 8th
Please join us and honor those who serve our country. We will have speakers talking briefly about the
plight of the veteran and the efforts that local groups in Milwaukee are doing to help the Homeless
Veterans in the area. A collection of food and personal care products will be taken as part of this event.
More information will be announced in future newsletters.

Thrivent Action Teams
If you’re a Thrivent Financial member, you can lead a Thrivent Action Team to bring people together for a one-time project to help others be wise with money and live generously. This is a new program that Thrivent has and you apply directly to Thrivent. There is no need to come through the Chapter. However, please be aware that you cannot use Action Team seed money and ask for Care Abounds funding as well. Each activity can only get one type of funding.
You can:
• Coordinate an educational event.
• Conduct a service activity.
• Organize a fundraiser.
Thrivent will provide:
• Resources to help you plan the event.
• Promotional items, including Thrivent T-shirts.
• Community Impact Card with $250 of seed money.
