| Building Homes - Building Hope |
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is pleased to partner with Habitat for Humanity to offer the hope of home ownership to ten families in the Harambee North neighborhood in Milwaukee. Thrivent Financial is providing $636,350 to Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity to build 10 homes in the Harambee North neighborhood through Thrivent Builds homes. Thrivent Builds homes mirror other Habitat homes, but have a greater focus on volunteers from local Thrivent volunteer chapters and Lutheran congregations. “The Thrivent Financial alliance is historic for Milwaukee Habitat,” said Sara Kierzek, executive director of Milwaukee Habitat. “For one organization to commit both financial and volunteer support to help us build 10 homes in one neighborhood in one year is incredible." Thrivent Builds framing week is May 14-18. There are many ways to get involved and be a part of this exciting program. People of every kind and level of skill are needed during this amazing week. Contact Ayoka Huff, Habitat Volunteer Coordinator at 414-562-6100, ext. 12, or at ahuff@milwaukeehabitat.org for more information. Help is needed everyday from 8-4. Plan to be part of the excitement for one day or the entire week. Work will continue on selected weekdays and Saturdays through the summer and fall. Get a group together and come help out. If you have questions, contact Michelle Buss at mbuss1@wi.rr.com.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans congratulates PGA professional and Wisconsin native Mark Wilson on his outstanding victory at the PGA Honda Classic. Thrivent Financial is proud to be Mark's sponsor. Mark showed his true character as both an excellent golfer, and a man of integrity as he won the tournament with hard work and honesty. Mark called a two stroke penalty on himself after his caddie made a mistake during his round on Friday; but Mark quickly regrouped, forgave his caddie, and played his way into a four-way playoff. Play was suspended Sunday due to darkness, and Mark won the tournament Monday morning. Excellence, integrity, forgiving attitude, and determination - Thrivent Financial is pleased to sponsor Mark Wilson, and thanks him for being a great role model for everyone.
