| Congregational Coordinators Recognized at Annual Dinner |
Each year the Chapter Leadership Board recognizes the members of our congregations who serve as Congregational Coordinators. Their job is to engage other members in fund-raising activities and/or hands-on service activities that benefit their congregation or its related institution(s) and initiates an activity request for funding through the Care in Congregations program. During 2008, 55 projects were completed with the leadership of our Congregational Coordinators to benefit their congregations and schools. As is the tradition, the Coordinators were treated to dinner and short program at Alpine Village on December 7. As expressed that evening, THANK YOU COORDINATORS for all you do on behalf of Thrivent in your congregations. We know that lots of good work is being done!
| Youth Serve Local Food Pantries |
During the Christmas season, many non-profit organizations look for more donations and many of us are moved to make those donations. As we all know, this year is no different, and the need is even greater. To help serve the local food pantries, the Ozaukee County Chapter Board challenged area church youth groups with a task - to find more food! The youth of First Immanuel - Cedarburg, Trinity - Cedarburg, and St. Paul's - Grafton went out and asked people to donate. First Immanuel youth divided into teams and did a scavenger hunt, going door to door asking for specific items on their list, with the donations going to The Food Pantry in Port Washington. Trinity youth went door to door supporting the Family House in Milwaukee. And St. Paul's youth asked for food donations at their hot chocolate stand at the Grafton Christmas parade. They sent on the donations to Famiy Sharing of Ozaukee. All three charities were so thankful for the help of the youth to fill their shelves, with 526 pounds of food collected in total.
To thank the youth of these three congregations, the Thrivent Board sent on monetary gifts to each group, encouraging them to celebrate their accomplishments by having a pizza party. THANK YOU THRIVENT YOUTH!
