| HARAMBEE - LET'S PULL TOGETHER |
Harambee means - to pull together - in Kiswahili. Once again, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will partner with Habitat for Humanity to lead an effort to pull together 10 new homes in Milwaukee's Harambee neighborhood. This is the third year for this fantastic venture, and the positive impact has been powerful. Home ownership is a dream realized for 30 families all pulled together in this revitalized neighborhood. The 2009 Thrivent Builds week is May 11-15, with plenty of opportunities to help all year long.
NOW is the time to begin planning your Join Hands Day service project! May 2, 2009 is the day set aside for all generations to come together and join hands in a united day of volunteering. All projects occuring between April 1 and June 30 are eligible for funding, and projects occurring on May 2 are eligible for national recognition. See www.joinhandsday.org for more information.
