| Volunteer Opportunties for Chapter Members |
Our chapter provides opportunities for members to "make a difference" by helping others through fund-raising or service acitivities. It also is an integral part of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans mission and vision because it helps maximize the good that we do for others.
As chapter members we help fulfill the "caring for others" portion of Thrivent Financial's mission: "Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a faith-based membership organization called to improve the quality of life of its members, their families and their communities by providing unparalleled solutions that focus on financial security, wellness and caring for others.
| Funding for Care Abounds in Communities® |
Through the Card Abounds in Communities chapter Care program, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provides funding for members participating in community service teams. These teams are formed to conduct fun-raising activities and/or hands-on service activities. Activities can benefit individuals, families, local communities or organizations that are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, excluding congregations. Acitivity requests for finding are directed to the chapter leadership board.
In 2006, our chapter had $10,575 in Care Abounds in Communities funds. We have so far supported eleven community programs i.e. Boys and Girls Clubs, Food Pantries, Afghan Clothing relief, Mexican Medical Ministries, Church Schools, various quilters that donate quilts to local agencies etc. We still have $3,600 to be used by years end. Please contact a Chapter Board Member if you know of any group that is in need of our assistance.
Each chapter consists of a chapter leadership board made up of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members elected by members of the chapter. The board provides strategic direction, leadership planning and administration to support memebers and others who volunteer through one of the Thrivent Financial's chapter Care programs (Care Abounds in Communities®, Care in Congregations® and Care in Regions®) or other chapter activities.
Each chapter leadership board is comprised of five required elected positions, five optional elected positions, and several advisory positions. The chapters leadership board is responsible for allocating dollars to community service teams through the Care Abounds in Communities programs. We still have a couple of openings, so if you wish to serve, please contact one of the currect leadership board members.
We have scheduled our elections for the 2007 Chapter Leadership Board on Sunday November 12 at the seven Lutheran Churches of the Northern Utah area. The elections are scheduled to be held after the regular church services. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will furnish the refreshments. Please attend worship services and then have fellowship during the voting. The ballots will be available at each church location by the election monitor (your Congregational Coordinator).
