| Flaming Gorge Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Spring 2004 |
After what has been a long, cold winter here in Southwestern Wyoming, it appears that Spring has finally arrived. As the trees and bushes start to bud and the animals start coming out of hibernation, your Flaming Gorge Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans , Chapter Board, has also come out of hibernation and met for the first time on March 4th. We are ready to spring forward with helping you with your Congregational and Community needs as you work on projects and fundraisers for this year.
As we welcome Spring to this part of the State, the Chapter Board would like to extend a warm welcome to Billie De Long of Evanston, Wyoming. Billie comes on board as our new Congregational Service Team Director. Thank you Billie for voulunteering to take this position. We look forward to your service to the Chapter. Billies replaces Pastor Paul Cain who has now taken the position of Vice President on the Chapter Board. We bid farewell to Dale Meyer who served previously as the Vice President. Our thanks also go out to Dale for serving in that position during a year of transition, which involved a lot of changes and learning.
The board would also like to extend a sincere "Thank-You" to all the volunteers that worked on the many projects and fundraisers that were held during the past year. Without your efforts, the work of the chapter could not have been done. We are happy to report that all of the funding that we received in 2003 was used. Thanks again for all you hard work and we encourgae you to serve your church and community in this same way in the coming months.
As you begin thinking about projects and fundraisers for this year, the board requests that a Congregational Coordinator please contact any board member to request your funding as soon as possible, once your project or fund-raiser has been planned. As we receive these requests for funding, the board can review them and then decide how they can disburse the money. The Chapter has $5000 available to help you with these requests. Get started on ways in which you can be doing something for Care Abounds In Communities(TM) as soon as possible. If we do not use this money we lose it and then we do not receive the same amount the next year.
| Care In Congregations(TM) |
Remember Congregations that there was a $100 increase in your allotment for "Care In Congregations(TM)." As long as you have your 3 Congregational Coordinators entered "online" with Thrivent Financial, your cogregation is entitled to the money. The board encourages each congreation within the Chapter to get their 3 coordinators registered and start taking advantage of the this money that Thrivent Financial has generously given to you. Thank you, Our Savior's in Evanston, for getting started with that. Your coordinators should have information on your available funds.
Thrivent Financial is hoping that each chapter will conduct at least two "Join Hands Day" activities. There is money in the Chapter account to help service your activity. If you are planning a "Join Hands Day" activity, please contact a board member ASAP. A packet has been sent to Billie De Long, so contact her if you have any questions. May 1st is the national "Join Hands Day" recognition, but the money can be used between April 1st and July 1st. Remember, an activity that you do must involve individuals or families from at least 6 Thrivent Financial member households.
The board would like to encourage all members to take advantage of the free materials that Thrivent offers to its members. You can go "online" to the website and order these materials or order them through the mail when you receive you insurance notice. Please take advantage of them.
